I think the reason the railing isn't there is because L4D2 uses the versus version of the L4D1 maps for campaign mode.

It would be nice if you made a similar one, but with the garage lights in crash course since in l4d 1 they are visible in chapter 1 :D

And to add what Skelevoid said, the ability for Valve to change the map according to the gamemode like how L4D1 did it was somehow lost and no one knows what happened to it.

Because they ported the versus versions of the campaigns to L4D2. That's why they are slightly different in some spots.

you saved me a lot of headaches :2019love:, i was planning to do this as well.
pretty sure Valve was lazy to set the railings off just on competitive gamemodes because of balancing and instead they took the awful decision of deleting them entirely.

valve went the woke and lazy way, added a pronouns option to l4d2 AND could not even make new campaigns, had to port old ones for l4d1 and even then ruined them!!!
