You have to go into the game files > Custom Liveries and then select the livery you want to do. With the file open, go into VTOL and bring up the selection screen for uploading that livery to the workshop. From there, replace the thumb and image files both to be square of what your thumbnail should be (make sure each image is the same file as the original) (PNG, JPG) (The 16:9 image also needs to be square). Once the images are replaced and both under 2mb, the file can be uploaded.

I spent some time trying to figure out how to update the workshop image but gave up. How did you do it?
