try to make it a little more apparent that this is supposed to be a snowy-icy energy rather than white energy

I think it's a decent idea, but I think it would benefit from a little bit of colour variation within the effect. Green Energy transitions into blue and Purple Energy transitions into yellow at the tip, which helps them to look more visually interesting than if they were literally just a mass of green / purple. Perhaps the frosty white could shift into a subtle pale blue? I'm sure you could figure something out.
