Yeah, it's just replacing files. Just make sure it's in the same folder structure. And the archive needs to be named subst_01 instead of ext_01.

To make these do you just replace the soundfile in base game? Or use your own folder?

Tali would be good, or any number of voices, variety is better. Just do what you enjoy and others will too.

Made an update that redid some terran ship names. The japanese names didn't turn out well. Osaka was "Osuckuh". Fixed that and some others.

I can solidly imagine GLaDOS from Portal in this along with all the quips of being a "pathetic specimen" when you take hits or lose shields. Nice.

@Axeface Thanks. Also, I'd imagine the file creation was automatic due to the tools egosoft may or may not be using. Seeing as how almost every other NPC has the same file structure. Probably just easier to generate them for all rather than picking and choosing who gets what filtered audio. That and for future use.

@Axeface Same, It couldn't do "AI" so I did "ayy eye". As for the other 3 audio types. I just copied the normal type over them. I'd like to find an EQ balance to achieve the exact effect for the other three. But I realized I don't think I've ever heard Betty through the comms or broadcasted before. Decided it would've been a waste of my time.

@SindSieEcht About having to add other words to get the right sound. I had a similar experience trying to get betty to say Hyperion, I had to add all sorts of stuff after it for it to sound even close to correct - ended up as "Highpeer eyan hey", lol. Also (just out of interest) did you do _broadcast and _npc? There are 3 folders with different filters right? I always wondered why they existed for Betty when she is always the same (understand why it exists for npcs like teladi etc).

Yeah. Took about 4-5 days of sporadic work. Used a Python script I got from chatgpt to delete lines that did not have an associated sound file. I copied the line. Posted into xvasynth and generated. Then I'd open it in Audacity to save it as an Ogg, replacing the original. Thankfully the lines and files were sorted numerically, so I just went down the list.

It doesn't like generating one-word sentences and would output gibberish. Like "Ore" would come out as "Ooohr" or something. I got around that by generating something like "Ore. Word." and just cutting out the second word just to get the phonetics right. That's what really slowed me down.

First of its kind! Well done. Did you really manually type each line, audit it, rename the file and place in the correct folder? For every single voice file? Ive seen those folders... must have take na while.

There is one line I couldn't replicate so I just made it say Shepard Commander ofc.
