Before I released my mod, I had tried my best to make the background properly move with the stars, but sadly it doesn't work like a planet's parallax and I don't know how to solve that.
And I also agree that it would be awesome for the stars to be shaped like galaxies, but the part of star generation that defines the universe's shape (perlin noise) is hard-coded into the game, and may be beyond what a modder could do without the source code.
I wonder if there's anything you can do about that? I believe the ideal would be if the background had no parallax vs the stars, so they appear to actually be placed on the galaxies.
Currently, I can't tell where they're meant to be positioned on it if I'm panning the view around, with the only consistency being if I explore without moving the menu at all.
On a related note, no idea if it's even possible with the game's modding, but it would be really cool to see stars generate in actual galaxy shapes, so you can have varying-sized shaped clusters of stars with mostly-empty space between them.
It's simply changes the navigation UI's background.
Thank you for pointing out the description, I'll try making it easier to understand.
Does it just change the overall background image in the navigation console to one big image consisting of these galaxies, or is there more to it? The description is pretty vague.
I am fully aware of that it's incompatible with the original Dark Space mod. Fortunately, somebody had made an alternate version that leaves the cockpit UI intact. I had tested that version with my mod and they're fully compatible.
You can find the alternate Dark Space mod here. I hope it helps!

So if you want darker stars as a background on your ship you'll have to give up these galaxies and vice versa.
The frackin universe wiki does say that any mod that edits the cockpit files is incompatible with it, so you might want to follow the other user's advice and use a patch.
It works like a charm! Thank you so very much for the fixes!
Thank you for your help!
For everyone else who wants to know what the problem was, turns out the problem was that the two images had incorrect names twice in the row.
That's really strange. Maybe backup your save and try my mod with a fresh universe?
Really? I have been using my mod from the Workshop for a while and I haven't had any problems like that. I don't know what could be causing this issue for you.
It's the only other mod that I know of that changes the Navigation UI's background.
Thankfully, someone made an alternate version of Dark Space that I use that has no cockpit UI changes like in the original, which you can find here . This version is compatible with the Cutieverse.
@Sumenora
Because there's a chance that you may end up between the five galaxies after installing, I had added mini-galaxies for people to follow in case this happened; You may need to travel far until you see one. The mini-galaxies are colour-coded so they can guide you to the nearest galaxy.
If the problem is that you see default background, (dark blue cloud,) then I might need to double-check. But I'll change the priority just in case.
I'm trying to figure out what mod in my pack could be conflicting but if it's just a priority thing maybe it's not that hard of a fix?
You're welcome! Thank you for your help! :D
The FU compatibility issue has been fixed! :D
Really? Thank you for letting me know that it's possible!
How do I make a patch anyways?
