Just found a meteorite spear on a underground dweller, Is it better or worse than steel?

Some meteorites found have contained anything from platinum to uranium as well :P

While it is true that most real life meteorites contain mostly either Sicilian or iron and nickel, they also have rather good odds of containing gold. Typically only at the core.

Will other civs have a chance to run into and harvest these? It would be really neat for it to be an exceptionally scarce resource with properties worth baiting in raids or going out on raids to acquire more.

Meteorite is like an uncommon ore that can be used to create rock shortswords like obsidian, and can be smelted or made into valuable craft goods. When smelted at a furnace, you typically get iron or nickel, but there is a small chance of getting other metals also.

How does the meteorite material compare to others? Sorry, new to the game and I don't know how to read the RAWs or anything like that

it varies. the meteorites generate in the same manner as gem clusters.

Is it one boulder, if not, how many tiles does it span?
