Do they take damage in water, or are they completely fine underwater?

The Adventure Mode/Object Testing Arena testing was done in the previous version of the game, which still had both.
Alice Ichigo 26. dec. 2022 kl. 16:24
wait, how are you using it in adventure mode? adventure mode aint even out yet?
lvkeulen  [ophavsmand] 26. dec. 2022 kl. 16:12
I've tested/googled more thoroughly, it turns out you're right and creatures will never pathfind through water in Fortress mode if the water is 4/7 or above. I tested this mod mostly through the Object Testing Arena from the previous version of the game and never knew this, but it seems people have tried this exact thing like 13 years ago and it didn't work then either.

Apologies for the misleading description! The bit about waterways has been removed. At the very least I can confirm the swim speed is fun in Adventure mode.

I designed a fortress so all hallways would flood for quick movement while stairs would lead up to dry rooms. Turns out the inklings refuse to enter submerged tunnels, they might be great swimmers but their ai still thinks 7/7 is deadly.

do they have any difference in the whole hating to drink water trait?
lvkeulen  [ophavsmand] 24. dec. 2022 kl. 0:43
They are innate, pretty fast swimmers and will currently not die in water, at least until we can mod other swimmable liquids (or do anything with roads). They would prefer fighting in water, since on land they'll generally lose against a dwarf with the same skillset.

They're a bit less likely to catch depression and a bit more likely to generate positive thoughts compared to dwarves, and in their descriptions they will value art a bit more on average.

I'm not sure if the latter actually has a gameplay effect. It's mostly there to make their personality descriptions sound believable.

Their spleens are renamed to ink sacs because they have ink for blood

So, do inklings still die in 7/7 water? Can they move around in it? Do they still need to train swimming?

Also uh, what does "more cheery and artsy" generally mean? Curious cause I really love splatoon and wanna play this

Thank you all for giving our mod a shot! We enjoyed making it, and love seeing others enjoy it. Didn’t expect anyone to see it, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see people give it a go. Thanks again!
Kruggsmash 21. dec. 2022 kl. 8:06
My god. this is excellent
Asagi 19. dec. 2022 kl. 23:00
Yeah, thanks. This clears up a question I had about other mods so thanks again for saving me time.
lvkeulen  [ophavsmand] 19. dec. 2022 kl. 22:56
I forgot to put it in the description, but unlike their source game counterparts they just swim faster rather than dying in water. There's sadly no fluid dynamics/swimming for anything but magma or water, so I thought designing a fort around a fast swimming creature was more fun than having them instantly drown. If other liquid swimming or interaction becomes an option (i.e. ink), this will get changed.
Doc 19. dec. 2022 kl. 22:08
Gonna be real Fun when a misjudged water pressure experiment kills all the residents on contact instead of drowning them :gregg:

They do leave ghosts, but I figured slabs would work as an alternative. If not they may end up getting remains of some kind later. I experimented with item corpses but I'm increasingly convinced they weren't intended for playable civs.

For worldgen, they're as likely to show up as the other races. Your world could be all inklings or it could have none of them - if you have a lot of different civs you may not see all of them simultaneously, depending on world size/civ count.
Galle 19. dec. 2022 kl. 18:34
Any playable civilization will generate on its own. Playability just lets you play as an existing civ.
Asagi 19. dec. 2022 kl. 18:09
Does this add inklings as a civilization/race that'll generate on their own or only as a player civ? I'd install this if it's the first because more civilizations equals more potential for drama.
knightnight 19. dec. 2022 kl. 15:43
Do they leave behind ghosts? If so that could be annoying with no body.

i enjoy . w.
