No worries, tons of unfinished ships are part of the process. When I get stuck on a design I usually start on another idea or I just find a compromise and build the part in a mediocre way in hopes that I‘ll find a better solution later on.

True, but I can‘t imagine stuffing a giant jumpdrive into it. I barely was able to fit the refinery

all its missing is jump drive and way to defend itself

As far as i have tested, it can. If those tanks aren't sufficient you can still use the O2/H2 Generators.

2 small hydro tanks? can it lift from planets to space? i guess not.
