Britain and France just wanted Germany to be happy wearing tye-dye teeshirts and singing kumbaya, and those evil soldier guys tried to take over. I think you are confusing these guys with the Sudeten-german Freikorps from WW2, who actually were Nazi-affiliated. (they are also in the CSA38 mod, if I am not mistaken)

The Freikorps units depicted in this mod were a different thing and mostly active in post WW1 to early twenties.
