this looked exactly like the high school I used to go to...except for every set of 4 windows, cover up the larger part of 3 out of 4 (so they're just the tiny windows at the very top)

Most American schools feel rather than look like this. They might be all gleefully built mbut students don't learn anything meaningful, and then the government wonders why they're so uneducated as adults. Or, the good stufents work their asses off every year of school only to be "rewarded" with 86-thousand dollars in debt and a desk job that doesn't pay worth ♥♥♥♥

elementry schools are always bland and adpressing, meanwhile after that it's mainly despressing due to getting 1,234,763,245,675,664,420,690 assignments every day and being expected to complete them all by friday

@entityZnith except the ones that are in historic landmarked buildings. My elementary school was this grand over 100 years old building in eggshell stucco witch sandstone decorative elements. But yeah, that school above us really looks depressing, thanks a lot brutalist 70s concrete architecture. Still very nicely done @Waluter , you captured the style of that period.
