Almost 100% sure that your friend just doesn't have it installed. The mod uses no custom assets besides the sound effects so it will look like it's working for your friend even if he doesn't have it installed.
Try installing "Addon share" to your game https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=973145750 , and it should automatically download the files for him when he joins your game.
