i have tried this mod the problem i have is that i can only go with 0s or 5s so could you make it so i could have some more variety, i do really like this mod good work i would be interested in some more dash acessorie's to that would be really cool tho good job :steamthis:

Yep, it'll include most of my combat-related mods. Even the ones I stopped updating, like Tools for Combat. I think it's best to have a mod containing multiple small features, rather than tons of small mods bearing small features.

Or a "predictive dive roll" where if you hold your dodge key while stationary it consumes mana to charge up over a configurable amount of seconds with a minimum and a maximum. If you then jump (or click?) somewhere it does whats basically a high speed dive roll towards the cursor. Which has additional speed over the base dodge based on how much mana went into it and if it detects it dodged a hit it gives a buff that empowers ranged based weapons to have additional damage+crit for the next few shots. Configurable cooldown on use time and requirement to have full mana to use it/have normal dodge not be on cooldown etc.

I have a few potential suggestions, since you have "active" components to your other mod for blocking where you've got bashing, or powerguarding at the cost of mana and parrying to get a melee boost/I-frame period.

Would it be possible to implement some gamey skill based additional mechanics to this dodge also? For example having the dodge act as a parry, where the dodge is only active for a shortened time but the duration of i-frames is extended if you "take damage" and actually dodge through an enemy or hostile projectile in that time frame. doing so also reduces the cooldown letting you dodge again earlier rather than a wiffed dodge just thrown out (or refunds part of the mana consumption?).

Is there an option to allow it to be made into an optional double tap input instead of using a hotkey? A lot of keys are potentially too far away from the WASD to be useful for hair splitting reaction dodging. While all the ones that would make sense are taken up by other things.

This is a slight visual bug but i think it would be to tell you, in multiplayer upon dodging it shows everybody else dodging the direction they are facing, it corrects their position a little afterwards but still might be nice to have that fixed if possible.

It would certainly help to balance this alongside Guarding and Parrying mechanics, as the abilities would be further distinguished; Since Dodging would require a certain velocity to activate, it isn't a free Parry.

Gaining Immunity Frames while immobile? The config option isn't like that by default.

The Directional Velocity of the Player is entirely up to the User/Server Owner. If you find that the velocity applied isn't balanced to you, then you're free to go ahead and change it.

Or do you mean canceling a Dodge State when running into a wall or coming to an abrupt stop? Or perhaps requiring a certain velocity in order to activate a Dodge? Yeah, I can do that in the next update.

Can you fix one thing? If i just use dodge without moving i just get I-frame, thats too op can you do it like you need certain speed to use dodge?

That's right. You are immune to attacks while Dodging. It's configurable, so you can change it to whatever you like.

Well, Joost did help me with this (my first mod on TML), but I never intended for it to be a replacement for Crouch, Crawl and Roll. That mod is more focused on not only Dodging, but is more of a fast-paced Platformer-oriented project where you can go long distances and jump high like Sonic.

This, however, is just a small project about the mere concept of Dodging.

Really like how nice this feels, however its a little buggy in multiplayer. Whenever you dodge, it makes any other players (locally i think) dodge too. I also don't think dodging is visible for other players which can get a bit confusing.

i also think directional melee swing might be the cause.
