Just set the colour value that you want for each part of the map.
(Red, Green, Blue, Transparency)
You can ignore transparency.
screen.setMapColorOcean(R,G,B)
screen.setMapColorShallows(R,G,B)
screen.setMapColorLand(R,G,B)
screen.setMapColorGrass(R,G,B)
screen.setMapColorSand(R,G,B)
screen.setMapColorSnow(R,G,B)

Here are the values I use:

screen.setMapColorLand(255,255,255,40)

so it turns out i positioned the monitor incorrectly...

I've tested it out on different seeds and I didn't have any problems, maybe try making a new save. Not to sure if there's a way to show to seed, but you can press "ESC" and find the seed in the top left corner.

this doesn't seem to be based on the game's current seed, is there a way you could make it project the current seed of the game?
