@b9thirty99 It's a soft requirement. You won't be able to select the voice pack otherwise as it's tied to the viper soldiers from Allies Unknown Redux Species: Vipers. If you want to use it on humans you can use unrestricted customisation or a similar mod.

What mod adds Torque model?

Viper Redux has 4 variants of her but none of them looks like her.

It always struck me as odd in Chimera Squad how...normal the Vipers' speech is. Especially considering that all they do in XCOM 2 is make various hissing noises, Sectoids too.

@RufflingOrange Which mod are you using for the playable Vipers? Because I know a few playable aliens mods (such as Playable XCOM 2 Aliens iirc) have pretty limited customisation options. I'd recommend Allies Unknown Redux Species: Vipers if you're not using it already, as that mod has not only a bunch of customisation options including voices, but a few of the voice lines included in this pack have been set up specifically to work with that mod.

If you are using Allies Unknown Redux Species: Vipers, though, and don't have any option to change the Viper's voice, then you should probably mention it over on their workshop page instead as I can't really help you there.

Hey there! I'm trying to figure out how to add the voice but in customization there is no option for voices on vipers for me. Is it another mod that lets me do this?

@Mr Danger Dude I'll admit that I'm not entirely familiar with the whole 'mod cooking' thing, but I've went ahead and updated the files anyway. I don't see any downsides to reduced file size and less stuttering.
If something went wrong during the update, though, just let me know. I haven't had a chance to go through and test things myself yet.

@MrTK_AUS I just cooked the mod myself, and reduced it's size to 788 KB, not to mention this also fixed the stuttering while the game loads the voice cue. I can send you the cooked mod file to upload, and update the mod with the new cooked voice package if you wish.

I figured out how to change the character's voice, by pure chance. Go to View Soldiers in the Armory, or Edit the soldier before deploying on a mission. Choose Customization, then Character Info, then Voice. There are two entries for Torque; just select another Voice.

@Chythar not that I'm aware of, sorry. I could possibly see about limiting the voice lines to the viper class itself, but that's a bit beyond my scope of knowledge at the moment. Will poke around a bit and see what I can do though.

Is there any way to limit Torque's lines to Vipers? Like you said, it's a bit weird to hear Torque's voice lines coming from humans.

Ah, alright, looking at it again with fresh eyes, I've finally figured out the issue -- you seemed to have made a typo somewhere, as the Viper Bind lines are pulling from 'HackUnitSucess' rather then 'HackUnitSuccess.' If you fix that then the lines should start working again.

That might explain it then. I already had lines set up under 'StunnedAlien' prior to your update, which must've been what the game was pulling from rather then 'HackUnitSuccess.' Maybe reverting the cue to 'StunnedAlien' would fix it?

The version before the update, The lines for binding were 'StunnedAlien', So updating it to 'HackUnitSucess' might of done something, since it's no longer pulling from those lines anymore. If you still can't get it to work, I can change it to something else, and see if that helps.

Hm, that update did seem to fix all the other lines, but now the Viper Bind lines have just inexplicably stopped working. I might have messed something up, though, I'm not sure.

And the voice lines don't seem to overlap on a failed bind. That's fine as far as I can tell.

It should be updated now with the added voice cues. Also added the end bind Voice cue for when a sustained bind fails, so in case end bind doesn't trigger it. If both overlap, just let me know and I'll fix it stat.

@Mr Danger Dude Thanks for the heads up. I've been meaning to add the proper lines for the various viper-related actions beforehand, I just wasn't sure how to go about doing it before now.

I've went ahead and linked up the voice lines to the cues you've mentioned, only through a bit of testing I've found that the Tongue Pull and Viper Bind lines seem to be the only two that work. End Bind and Poison Spit don't seem to want to trigger, and I'm not entirely sure if that's because I've messed something up or not (although as far as I can tell I've configured everything correctly).

As for your upcoming mod, just feel free to do whatever's easiest for you. I do plan to throw in a few more lines later on down the track, if and when I find the time to dig deeper into the game.

Hopefully I'm not sounding too demanding, but here are the Voice ques that Vipers use for their abilities + Vicious Bite for Torque for if you decide to add more to this. These voice ques are unused in vanilla abilities and I don't think any modded abilities use these voice ques either (With exception of the last entry, which is using a faction line that suits the context):



HackUnitSuccess = Viper Bind
HackTurretSuccess = End Bind
ArcThrower = Vicious BIte (Torque)
RepairSHIV = Poison Spit
Justice = Tongue Pull

Just a head's up, Vipers use ActivationSpeech = 'Justice' As their voice line when using tongue pull. Noticed that she doesn't have VO for pull yet, so just a heads up if you plan to add more voice lines. As a side note, Do you mind if I include Torque's voice in the Squad mate mod I;m making? I'm happy to just make it a requirement, but might as well query on it (Probably better if I just make it a requirement, In case you update the mod in future.)

Other than that, Good work on the mod my dude!

@0inArrow I've definitely been considering it. The only problem is I have to go into the actual game and trigger the voice lines there to record them which takes forever to do, so I probably won't be able to without some free time on my hands. I'll definitely try, though, if enough people are interested.

@Stolas Pretty sure every weapon shown is either DLC or base game save for the one fired at 1:06, which comes from Resistance Firearms. I have a few UI mods but the main one is Cost-Based Ability Colours, and the post-mission debriefing screen comes from Nice Mission Debriefing.

@zoro4661: Technically most VPs would be that, given Vipers are kind of a "face" species for ADVENT, and when they were Thin Men, they were created to be fluent in ten human languages. Never would have a lisp due to the tongue.
