Not sure if they instantly die, or they survive there for a few minutes. The latter would be better. Even better would be if you could put them in a coffin with breathing holes, let them die of starvation down there. Maybe, install feeding cables down to them to keep them alive longer... no.. Stop.. Stop... hah
I will say though, i initially thought this was a mod that let you bury them up to their neck in the dirt for animals to come feast on them, or for them to die in the scorching sun. Need that one too....no... stop... stop Mwahahaha

Indeed. But, maybe 1 hour for no effect (except major mood penalty), then they start suffering brain damage? And, another version of the buring technice is the "permanent tomb". This building is a 3 by 3, and can take a slave, prisoner, or downed pawn. You can stock it with food, and they can live for up to a month before oxygen depletion starts injuring them. It's calibrated so that, if fully stocked with food, a healthy pawn will die of oxygen deprivation when 25% starving from empty food (Or you can set how much time they can live assuming fully stocked?). Before they die, you can check their stats. As you can immaginen, it will break prisoners will majorly, making recruitment easier! Or, set it to low oxygen and kill them in 2 days, or recruit with major brain damage!

Once upon a time, a raider killed one of my treasured pawns.
So, I removed all their limbs, their eyes, ears, and everything I could, and I put them in a near freezing room, and barely fed the barely keeping them alive, and only came in to turn the temp up before they died of hypothermia.
It took a lot of micro-managing, but I kept this up for 3 in-game years, before I felt like they had finally been punished, and then I killed them.
After seeing this mod, I only wish I could've ended their life by finally burying them alive.

i usually harvest organs until a pawn dies when theyve upset, this is a great alternative. thank you

This is an awesome idea! Is there a way to make it wait a little bit before they expire, so it can also be used as a punishment/mind-fuck, or perhaps allow it to work on a sarcophagus? A countdown might be fun too.

Also using the epitaph mod and had an "interesting" interaction. After burying someone alive for a violent mental break, her epitaph read "She died fighting, just as we knew she would". That hits pretty differently when that person died from being buried alive.

is there any chance you could make this compatible with mass graves? i feel like its appropriate with my raiders to just toss the downed workers at worksites into a mass grave. also love this mod cant play without it :)

Oh, wait this doesn't effect friendly pawns does it? you don't want your haulers/Doctors to just bury the dude instead of healing him or getting him to a med bed.

@1rhran I second this, though it would be cool if that person then gets a small buff of some sort to make them more of a threat upon their return, and they'll try to tear the colony apart, one murder at a time
In that case though, perhaps the percentage chance should be lower, to make it an even bigger deal when it happens?

@Mr.Bright I am not familiar with that mod but the way this mod currently works is it does medium damage to every part of the pawn's body until the pawn dies, and if it still isn't dead after every body part was damaged, it just hits the kill button and they die anyway.
