You can even make the screenshots higher resolution than your screen's by simply going to steamapps/common/Kerbal Space Program/settings.cfg and opening it with a text editor (I use NoteBook). When in the settings.cfg file, press[Ctrl]+[F] and write in to the search bar "SCREENSHOT_SUPERSIZE" and press the "Down" direction and "Find Next". When at the correct location in the file, change the [1] in SCREENSHOT_SUPERSIZE = 1 to whatever you want to multiply your screen resolution by. I use a 2560x1440 screen and I have set it to 2, so I get output a 5120x2880 screenshot, and I would not suggest using anything higher than 2.

I would suggest using the in-game Screenshot tool which I think is set to [F1]. When you press that, the screenshots will appear in the steamapps/common/Kerbal Space Program/Screenshots.

I think you used the "Thumbnails" instead of the screenshots, this is probably why the screenshots are in such a horribly low resolution.
