@ SolidVector: Yeah, in hl2 there is a secret tunnel just before you get to meetEli at black mesa, it is west of the hill with the warehouse. There is a vortiguant camping out in a radiated sewer pipe roating some headcrabs, and the skinny ones too... eeehhh.... And I believe he is supposed to tell you of a prophacy, like I believe the long waited, or now long waited; third hl installment. And maybe some of it has to do with the episode events, aswell.
