I am perplexed that such a simple part of ambience was missing from the base game, I didn't even think about it being missing until this mod popped up.

As far i'm aware those spells do give off light already, lightning bolt and ball at least do. Wouldn't be difficult to apply, but also the projectile light modifier already exists which is partially what this mod is copying from.

Is it possible to make it so that fire and lightning spells always count as having "light" as well? Would pair well with this mod.

I see, that's understandable. I think the lights are just a bit too clear/useful for my taste, as I want to keep a bit more of the mystery of exploration intact (mines sure has a lot of those lanterns scattered about). Great mod otherwise!

I'm not entirely sure if that's possible, at least not to give it a light halo like lanterns do. At best it'd just be fire pixels visible through the darkness layer.

Yes but you play a magician in this game, and he already can see through walls. So real world logic is mostly out of the window here. The lamps, who do not seem to be magical, now work like lamps should - which they do even if no one is in the room: They eliminate their surroundings.

I do genuinely wonder why nolla didn't opt to have things like this as an actual game feature and just make a toggle for people with awful laptops.

There shouldn't be any conflict with it unless the rogue mod changes how the light spell modifier works.

I'll have to see if this pairs well with the rogue mod that makes lighting only work with line of sight.
Hopefully it does so that can be a little more viable. As it is its kind of a hard mod to play with and as such kind of turns into a here and there play-through mod, but not something I'd use consistently...

The hiisi tube lamps would be a much more difficult tweak since I had to manually make that light source, there's no similar effect in game vanilla.

Thank you for your super quick answer, yeah i just want to make it a little bit brighter. In my oppinion the hisi base lamp light doesnt go far enough downwards as shown on your fist picture.

PS: If i would be you Covid i might go out of europe if you want to live. Vaccines are on its way to end your carrer! :)

Yes but it's not quite as easy as just a light radius toggle.
In the mod folder there are 11 .xml files for each individual lantern type.
For example in physics_lantern.xml there should be a line showing
image_file="data/particles/fog_of_war_hole_64.xml"

Change that to

image_file="data/particles/fog_of_war_hole_128.xml

and it will double the light radius for every lamp you edit that way, sadly these are limited to actual alpha mask images that are placed over the darkness and _128 is the highest it goes without making your own custom overlay.
You can make your own massive light radius by copying what I did in mods\Lightup\data\particles\ and just copy the fog_of_war_hole_cone.xml structure there with your own custom shape/size.

This is actually a really sick mod. Seeing enemies shuffling around in the darkness is really cool and useful, and the placement of many lights in tilesets can lead to some good lighting on wand pedestals and et cetera.

It has always, ALWAYS bothered me to no end that the lanterns and lamps and fluorescent tube lights don't emit actual light in the game.

Nothing changes about the game except for adding light points on top of lamp entities, all perks and the base game should work as before. Mods that add new types of lamps likely don't.
