I've also encountered this issue, and unfortunately it sometimes happens regardless of what you do.
What I have found does help prevent it sometimes is to grind down the hinge head you will be attaching, then placing it the other way around (although I'm told it shouldn't make a difference, it does seem to for me).
Sorry, no idea. That would depend on the mod used to make it AI, but its most likely the remote control block or the AI block that looks like a remote control

If it is not responding, then make sure you have the programmable block "PB Trailer Manager" turned On, as all programmable blocks are turned off by default (to prevent conflicts while printing). If that is still not working, check in your world settings wether you have scripts enabled.
