apologies if this sounded bothersome but would it be fine if you were to reanimate l4d2's pistols

would fit l4d2's art style more if you you used animations from CS:GO, but is cool overall

No, there is nothing in the patch notes to suggest that it had world animations, not one of my gun mods ever had world animations because that would cause all sorts of consistency errors. The only shell ejection present currently is in the viewmodel. If I could make the world models animate properly on a per-weapon basis that'd be great, but unfortunately that's just not feasible.

Question: Has the gun worldmodel have animations for bullet ejections? I have tried it but there was no indication of such. Also, I checked the update notes and it said that bullet ejection world animations were changed? Do you have plans on redoing that aspect or is it final?

well i know nothing about weapon modding but if you do find out how to do that will you update your mods to use particles instead?
CTriggerHurt  [ophavsmand] 6. dec. 2020 kl. 9:42
I think my original reasoning was that I found L4D2's bullet particles to not look good, and there doesn't seem to be a way to create a 3d casing effect as seen in HL2 and TF2 other than animating it (which is what Valve did with the pistols), so I've been doing it that way ever since. If I knew of a way to implement said effect, I'd gladly use it instead because I agree wholeheartedly that animated shell ejections look weird.

im curious: how come you have the ejected casings as 3d models in the animations rather than particles?

i think its a little distracting to have them always go the same direction every time i shoot but this mod is good enough to make it worth it

That's how it works. Wiki is written by people like us.
CTriggerHurt  [ophavsmand] 27. nov. 2020 kl. 12:14
Huh. Well, that's what I get for trusting the wiki for accuracy. I appreciate the info nonetheless, at least it's corrected now.
Alex_D #NoWar 27. nov. 2020 kl. 12:04
Yeah, the MSG has a forward assist looking thingy that they call a "silent bolt closing device". But since the stock and trigger are more iconic features, people just went with that.

The wikia (and IMFDB) also used to identify the L4D2 Glock as having 17's barrel length, 26's rounded slide, and 19's "stubby" grip, even though 26 is stubby, making the model basically an elongated Glock 26.
CTriggerHurt  [ophavsmand] 27. nov. 2020 kl. 10:29
Well, dammit. I recall the wiki calling it an MSG-90 directly when I was trying to figure out which rifle this is years ago, and I just ran with that, but comparing the two it's definitely just a slightly modified G3.
Alex_D #NoWar 27. nov. 2020 kl. 0:15
tfw they won't stop calling the normal G3 with an MSG-90 stock and trigger group as "MSG-90"
