Why don't you make a hardcore mod like for Soma?

Issues with compatibility around the official adventure mode have hopefully been fixed and the mod should launch normally now.

Apparently the mod no longer works since the introduction of the official Adventure Mode. It dies with a script error when opening the menu.

I got it working by copying over the official version of MenuHandler.hps and merging the new GameModesMenu section into base_english.lang . Not sure if I lost any of your customizations in the menu.

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for this! I wanted an experience more akin to SOMA's safe mode, the official Adventure Mode has a bit too much changes, I still wanted to get scared, but not have everything almost entirely removed so this is perfect, thank you!

i got to the castle interion before i had to stop as my heart couldnt take it. i might only be 23, but with the heart disease i am born with it can actually kill me so this mod is a litterall life saver! THANK YOU!

But the game is already in safe mode.

I knew that this game was quite terrifying, having played the others in this series, but my nerves aren't what they once were, so I had planned to sit this one out. UNTIL I saw that I could use MaV's Exploration Mode mod...so count me in! I bought the game that very day. It's still PLENTY scary, but at least I don't have to deal with creepy things waiting to chew my face off.

@KILLA, from testing I found that the train will not collapse if any of the wraiths can see you. You still need to hide from them during this sequence.

Did anyone got stuck at the bit where the train collapses to the ground? You are just stuck at the train and it doesn't fall of and I can't progress. :(

Nevermind, I can confirm Achievements work with this fantastic Mod!

No you can only have one mod active at a time. It sucks but it's the way it is atm. If you want to have more than one you need to copy one into your MAIN game directory overwriting the vanilla files. Alternatively, you could copy the other mod into the exploration mode folder and launch normally.

@MaV Autor: I copied yours and the other mod to my game folder, and they both show up when I click on "Mods" in the start menu. In your instructions you said we have to click on your mod so that the game starts with your mod. My question is, is the other mod automatically active too? or do I have to start the game from this mod to make it active? Is it enough to start the game via your mod so that both mods are active or can I also start the game with the normal desktop exe to activate both mods?

@farinelli1800, to run with multiple mods you need to copy one of them into your MAIN game directory. I recommend the lanterns and matches as it probably changes less. The downside of this is that you can't uninstall as it will overwrite the existing files. You can confirm if the mod is running because it will notify you that the mod is been loaded in the top left hand of the screen when launching the game.

Works the mod with V 1.2 ?

Have I start the game allways with the Exploration Mode option? Ive got the Matches and Lantern Mod too in my mods path in the game menu, can I run my game with only one of this options?

This works for achievements. Can confirm it. Also thank you for uploading this. I am a complete wimp and wouldn't have been able to play this game myself otherwise. Cheers

I can confirm that unless it's hardcoded to not unlock with mods there's no reason why this would interfere with achievements

If this doesn't interfere with achievements, then it is super helpful for the Speedster achievement!!

You should also make it so that matches and lantern oil are infinite, so we can look around better!

OP literally states this:

What's the point?

@Voidout I haven't touched any scripts to do with achievements so as far as I know they should still work.

Can you still get the achievements with this mod? I want try to complete all/other achievements while safe mode.
