Update?
98cb2189 14 gen 2023, ore 22:56
This mod crashes on Linux (and Mac, although I'm using Linux) because of a missing mesh: [17:47:41][pdx_entity.cpp:2634]: Couldn't find mesh "portrait_holofrixit_01_background_01_mesh" (or portrait_holofrixit_01_background_01_mesh is not of 'pdxmesh' type) [portrait_holofrixit_01_background_01_entity]

On Windows it just logs the error and continues/ignores it, but on Mac and Linux unfortunately the game crashes. I worked around it by just commenting out the section that uses that mesh. (And I checked the original mod and unfortunately it doesn't have that mesh either.)

If you want to read more about why the crash happens: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/stellaris-ctd-on-launch-only-using-dlcs-plus-gigastructural-engineering.1561154/

Updated.
Just in case it doesn't update in the playlist, try unsubing and then resub.

update?
Nozeminer  [autore] 12 set 2022, ore 11:53
Well, there could be several reasons for the Nexus thing.
Nexus mods has a much stricter policy when it comes to mod sharing.
There, for example, I would usually have to obtain the consent of the original authors before I put it there, modified or not.
It's not my work after all, apart from the updated city sets that I made.
The second reason, of course, can be that it was reported for some other reason, for example because it's a copy of that mod and someone other than me uploaded it on the nexus.

In short, I have no idea. :)

But I can assure you that here it's just the simple game files, like in any other mod, without any virus.
But of course that doesn't prevent anyone from downloading these files, or mods in general here, and uploading them to other sites after packing something suspicious in there for others to download.
It never happened to me personally, but of course that doesn't mean it never happens at all.
Ulthar 12 set 2022, ore 8:54
I tried to find your mod, because I love it Mythez. It's exactly what I need. However, even on nexus it was taken down. Is it possible somewhere in the file there is a virus?

The third place I found it, I was given a warning of a malicious virus. I am hesitant to even post the link as it may flag me, but I found it on reddit.
Mythez 26 apr 2022, ore 23:44
Wonderful work - I have included parts of your mod in mine but then got banned for not asking for permissions. Do you have any objections to your work being included in mine? I have already added you to the credits list.

Fantastic work grouping all these together. I had the devil's time trying to find a collection of the portraits without the extra stuff. So you saved me a whole bunch of time, thank you. :)

Couple of small points, though:

The file 'silfae_species_00.txt.txt' has an extra closing brace in the final line. Line 283, iirc.

A number a files are suffix'd '.txt.txt' might not be an issue, but not having spotted it elsewhere, figured it was worth mentioning (just in case).

If this is contains that huge Portrait pack what is removed from Workshop and not even updated since 2.2.4 patch.... You are a LIFESAVER!
APE GAMER 13 nov 2021, ore 14:42
the hollow portraits are kind of glitched
Cosmic Cat 15 mar 2021, ore 18:21
Thanks for this compilation! :D:
APE GAMER 5 mar 2021, ore 19:59
Could you add the flags and namelists, too?
Nozeminer  [autore] 19 gen 2021, ore 12:56
So that there aren't two mammalian cities.
Bosmeri 17 gen 2021, ore 20:53
Any reason why the standard "Mammalian City" is being overwritten by Silfae-Org City?
Hot Wet Nobel Laureates 24 dic 2020, ore 10:10
So they'll both work together. thanks again
Nozeminer  [autore] 24 dic 2020, ore 4:03
Ah yeah, that's because it was originally created by silfae (which is why I have included it here aswell).
They also included it in their mod, so it'll appear in both portrait sets.
Hot Wet Nobel Laureates 24 dic 2020, ore 3:47
Another question. How does this work with the forgotten queens mod, as this mod and that both seem to both add the dimensional horror portrait
Hot Wet Nobel Laureates 24 dic 2020, ore 3:42
Ok, thanks
Nozeminer  [autore] 24 dic 2020, ore 3:42
And merry christmas. D:
Nozeminer  [autore] 24 dic 2020, ore 3:40
I'ts cosmetic only.
I never got that deep into modding to change or add civics or traits (besides allowing authoritarians to purge).
Hot Wet Nobel Laureates 24 dic 2020, ore 1:41
The mods you got the portraits from add stuff like civics, traits, and custom empires. does this mod do that too, or is it just cosmetic only?
Nozeminer  [autore] 2 dic 2020, ore 7:58
Well, yes, even though it is not intended by me.
A ship set is automatically generated for each city set and each portrait category that you add.
Whenever you add a city, you'll also add a portrait category and a ship set, and for every portrait category you add, you'll add a city and a ship set, and of course, for every ship set that you add, there will be a portrait category and a city set.
These three are tied toghether. It's hardcoded.

The only way to prevent that from happening would be to remove all cities this mod adds.
Then it would just add one city and ship set because of the one portrait category that is added.
Atlantispy 2 dic 2020, ore 1:49
Does this mod intentionally add shipsets for multiple of the portraits? AFAIK they don't get unique ship sets
Nozeminer  [autore] 1 dic 2020, ore 8:47
Also, the thing is just that I currently don't really play stellaris (kinda lost my motivation for it, but it'll be back someday).
And if I lack of motivation for the game, I tend to only maintain my mods to keep em playable for others instead of investing lots of scarce spare time to create new ones.
Nozeminer  [autore] 1 dic 2020, ore 7:59
Yeah, but for that I'd have to completely remake the mod and create a category (and therefore a blank shipset) for each individual portrait.
The problem with this is that the Empire names that are generated by the AI are tied to the portrait category (e.g. mammals have another pool of names than plantoids and so on).
Unfortunately this is hardcoded so there'd be no other way around this than the one mentioned above.
I could make a seperate mod that does this someday, but if I just make a change like that to this one then it'll break the portraits of those that already have ongoing games with this mod.
DBHEAT 30 nov 2020, ore 21:28
would it be possible to filter out the portraits under their dedicated namelist? For Example - my game spawned an empire that was using the Shark portraits and named their race the Aquilese commonwealth.
Nozeminer  [autore] 17 nov 2020, ore 11:35
@елиас
I know what you mean, the problem is just that there is no way of properly recreating silfaes preset empires after all those updates that changed the government types.
If you look at the Xirmians for example, they are a xenophile, materialistic, individualist direct Democracy.
And since individualism is just as as close to egalitarianism as authoritarianism is, there is little chance to recreate it properly. D:
And before I try to recreate those empires and then need to change them over and over again at the request of some who disagree with my interpretations of how they would be now, I thought it'd be better to just leave it to everyone to recreate them individualy as they see fit.
Nozeminer  [autore] 17 nov 2020, ore 11:35
@Stranger
Nah, there are many mods out there that update silfae's synths like
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2078117903&searchtext=silfae+synth
or
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2208395421
Just as there are mods that cover his silicoids like
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2208395421

This mod here was just ment to kinda compliment them, as a modular update for the organic ones because I couldn't find one back then that was up to date.

@Scipio
Yeah they kinda where intended with this sort of dimorphism, bigger females and smaler males.
No Name 17 nov 2020, ore 11:31
Theres already 2 Silfae synth mods for 2.8...
Stranger 16 nov 2020, ore 21:38
Are you going to do Silfae's synths?
Mothman 15 nov 2020, ore 15:43
Looks the the portraits for the Aquilese sexes are flipped
елиас 14 nov 2020, ore 18:46
And thirdly, on to something that might be a bit more to ask; would it be possible to update the prescripted empires too? The way I used to play with these was to copy/save and force-spawn the prescripted empires and have them as a constant familiar element in my games while I played as other nations - I am currently recreating those empires manually but they're notably going to be missing the custom AI personalities with custom diplomatic text and stuff, which I always liked. I totally get it if you don't want to include them for whatever reason or if it'd be too difficult to pull off, and I'm perfectly happy to just recreate them myself manually and live without those personalities and stuff, I just think it'd be cool.

Either way I very much appreciate that you actually went and updated the portraits and citysets, as my games have felt quite empty without them for nearly two years now :)
елиас 14 nov 2020, ore 18:45
First of all, thank you so much for updating these! I've missed playing with them literally since the first incompatible patch after silfae stopped updating them. A few things - first of all, I noticed a few of the namelists from the original mods are included, while others are not, namely the Xirmian and serpentoid ones, but probably a couple others, I just noticed those two. Secondly, the custom flag emblem for the Astroraptors is also missing. I know flag emblems and namelists technically don't fall within the name of this mod but I'm guessing it wouldn't be too much work to add those anyways and it'd be nice to have everything included.
Nozeminer  [autore] 14 nov 2020, ore 12:41
I was just kidding with the stubborn part. ^_^
But yeah, I'll guess I should probably start watching star trek or similar series, perhaps it'll give me a bit of inspiration for future mods or empires to make ingame. :winter2019happyyul:
Procyon 13 nov 2020, ore 16:58
sorry, i have played this total conversion mod before and i dont really like it then.it ruins the tone of stellaris and it is something totally diffrent to fight as klingons against genoicidal geekos and not the federation.
it would be nice if you do, but dont feel pressed into doing it.i just felt this is an awesome mod who dont deserve to die.
But you schould really try star trek.the original series can be a little bit chessy somethimes but it is cult and set the tone for an entire decade of scifi.perhaps you could start with deep space nine.it is concidered the best star trek series out there but it is not that episodic like tng or tos.
Nozeminer  [autore] 13 nov 2020, ore 10:26
Why do you have to be so stubborn? :god_dead:
I've just unzipped the linked mod, and as far as the portraits are concerned it only contains a few hairstyles and 3 pieces of clothing for each gender, which are then combined with the hummanoid2 body.
Maybe I could make a good Klingon mod to the standard of my other species mods, with clothes for every job, multiple bodies with brezhnevs eyebrows on every face, and lots of hairstyles if I could get into Klingons or Star Trek stuff in general.
But I haven't seen a single Star Trek episode in my entire life. D:
Procyon 13 nov 2020, ore 9:25
thank you but the portrait is not that good and it is a complet conversion mod
Nozeminer  [autore] 13 nov 2020, ore 9:20
How about this one then?
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=688086068
According to the description, it should contain portraits of these things.
Procyon 13 nov 2020, ore 8:16
this pack has way better clothes and not as ugly hair styles
No Name 12 nov 2020, ore 15:41
I think it would be cool if you did a combination pack of old animated portraits by numerous creators. Different to this pack.
Nozeminer  [autore] 12 nov 2020, ore 11:08
And aren't there already klingon-esque portraits?
I mean the official humanoid ones, well, they are not as ugly as klingons, but at least there are bazillion variations of clothing and hairstyles if you play with the SE Humanoid mod.
Nozeminer  [autore] 12 nov 2020, ore 11:03
Well, in that case it wouldn't be Silfae's portraits anymore. What I could do is update the portraits.
But as for the ship set, I've never dealt with ship modding, mainly because it requires a lot more constant updates than portraits or city sets, as new ship types are added more often (and so I don't have to constantly make compatibility patches for this and that ship type mod).
Procyon 12 nov 2020, ore 7:13
could you please incloud this amazing mod.it has a shipset and an amazing klingon portrait.
sadly the op will not update it and is is broken.i would love to play the species portrait again.
It would be great.

https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1432590842
Nozeminer  [autore] 8 nov 2020, ore 0:58
Yeah, it worked with 2.8 even before I updated it.
Stranger 7 nov 2020, ore 18:31
Does that version work with 2.8?
(I accidentally deleted my previous comment fyi)
Nozeminer  [autore] 7 nov 2020, ore 1:55
So that no new city sets or ship sets appear at all, I would have to move the individual portraits into the existing categories (hyenas to mammals, etc.), where they are then easily overwritten by other mods that add portraits in the same category and do not appear in the game.
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2051596099
The mod here has fewer city sets and therefore fewer shipsets, because it was probably forgotten to generate the respective species classes.
Nozeminer  [autore] 6 nov 2020, ore 5:07
I wish I could, but unfortunately there's no way to do that because it's hardcoded.
Every city set comes with a ship set attached to it and every ship set comes with a city set. :/
Stranger 6 nov 2020, ore 0:49
Can you do a version without all the extra ship sets?
