Nice! I'm hungry for someone to re-imagine the Lost Coast in HL:A. That and the White Forest Inn are probably two of my favorite HL maps

I didn't realize it on the first couple of plays, but this map is based on the HL2 Mission Improbable mod, right? Take a boat to re-establish communication in a small rebel lighthouse tower on the coast...use a lift to get back from the tower across water as the combine and manhacks attack...?

Gave it another go for my review series and it did not disappoint. I agree with the below regarding some of the visual aspects, and the janky lift and manhacks are a problem, but it was still great combat-wise and I loved the sound design. https://youtu.be/HHPANm9Jy1w

I keep replaying this because I'm hungry for coastal maps. This is a fun little map, although a little visually unpolished. The BEST thing about the map was definitely seeing a citizen in a rebel outfit - nice work! I would love to see an update to this map with a new art pass...rocks, vegetation...

manhacks stopped midair during the lift ride, i got an autosave at near zero health with combine and a manhack at my throat, and had boringly long load times on an ssd.

I really liked the setting of this map and the gameplay was mostly fine. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending however, the Manhacks were a great idea when attacking from the moving cart but I feel like they could've been better paced when ascending from the tower. The Combine rush at the end was a bit frustrating too, ran out of ammo from the manhacks and found cover to be few and far between, granted I did have this at hard difficulty. I'd love to see more from this sort of setting, great job either way!

Nice little map. Tight encounters. Cool semi-custom voice shot. Short but sweet. Only thing I would suggest the author do is to add some detail to the distant backgrounds.

@paradoxlol I'm almost at 150 hrs on Alyx and I only put like 20 hours into the original campaign. All of you awesome map creators helped me survive this lockdown...lol.

Dude! Just like some others here, I finished with literally 1 dot of health and was down to my last clip. That heavy at the end had me sweating. Played it on Hard and never died which made it so much fun! You balanced this beautifully. The manhacks on the lift were my favorite part because it forced you to be mobile in a tight space and accurate with the reflex sight. My only suggestion would be a Russel voiceline telling you to look around for the button when you get close to the lift. I actually have no feedback. You gave yourself a limited scope and timeframe and you executed perfectly, in my mind. Well done!

Robot, we're building a really cool community here of modders and players helping each other make amazing VR experiences for free. Let's all try to be constructive when the experience of the addon wasn't what you were looking for. All of the people making these maps really appreciate quality feedback; some of them might become the game designers of tomorrow.

Finished the map with 0 bullets and 1 hitpoint by landing 3 consecutive headshots on the last heavy. Never felt so badass.

Very challenging and fun combat, by the end I had a sliver of health, a couple bullets, a grenade, and a not so nice heavy combine. You have to be really tricky with how you handle the limited resources you have.

the fight you get into near the end of the game felt too challenging, didnt expect it and i like that kind of suprises, but I feel it being too hard given that you get shot before even going on the lift

That fight i didnt like and idk why but i did enjoy the map a lot until at that point but I'd rather just have the lazer sight only instead of all but the lazer sight [and ammo capacity].

But he is not really giving it respectfully, it would be helpful/respectful if he actually stated anything specific but all he's saying is that it's not good. How can anyone take that criticism and improve from it? You have to be specific with what you didn't like and what could be improved upon. You can also do it in a polite way: "I enjoyed x part of the map, but maybe this other section would benefit from x" You cannot just say this is "disappointing" and then pretend you are providing a useful critique. You're asking him to spend more time but the whole point of this map was to see what he could come up with in 3 days? I would not have called you a troll if your feedback was actually actionable or useful but all you have said is that it's disappointing!

I was disappointed in the quality of the map and asked the mod maker to spend more time on future productions.

@paradoxlol Please don't listen to the troll here, I thought this was dope! 3 days on a map this good is very impressive and I enjoyed using your skin pack with the map. The lift was refined and fun to ride since I don't think I've seen an open air elevator like that yet! Fighting as you climb down the antenna tower was exciting and made for some very fun & immersive combat. I hope you or any other modders don't let one troll get you down, 99% of us are very appreciative of yall :)

@tektronix yea that issue is caused by the engine. Keep in mind continuous movement was added really late into development so there is bugs with it.

It was fun, only issue I had is that I fell off the cart at the end and died a couple times. It's a cool new idea though, I haven't seen it in any other mods.

Hey Amish Robot ... would love to see your work and what you do for the community! Have you made any tutorials or maps for HLA? Have you done anything to document the limits of source 2? You seem to have such high caliber in your ability to distinguish mod quality so please show everyone how you would have made something in such short time period. Or you could be a completely miserable hack that wastes everyone time reading your jumbled garbage. Either way looking forward to whatever you further contribute from your back seat driving.

@The Thirteen Colonies. That is a bug with the engine. Since HLA was made for TP only and continuous movement was added pretty late in development, parenting the player to any moving object kinda breaks the game :/

I managed to fall off of the elevator on 3 separate occasions and the dock was floating in the air, but aside from that, I really enjoyed it thematically. Good work man.

what usually helps me is to imagine im walking into that room and quickly construct something in my mind as a door slowly opens and keep whatever crazy layouts come to mind

@zorich_michael my process is to literally just have a basic idea and then just layer upon it. Like I start just putting blocks down and then like start asking myself what if I do this? Drawing stuff out also helps.
