You should make sure your broken tubes are NOT made of Plastic at first.
Plastic melts into Naphtha (black) at 163 degrees Celsius, Glass melts into Molten Glass (blue) at 1430 degrees Celsius, and Diamond melts into Molten Carbon (brown) at 3930 degrees Celsius.
Is your Environment temperature higher than 1430 degrees Celsius?

This is cheating. Make sure that every time a duplicate uses it, in 12% of cases, the glass "breaks" and you have to fix it.

I love this because now it's actually possible to have transit tubes in super hot places. No longer having to worry about melting tubes is awesome.

An interesting mod, and one I approve of. On one hand, forging glass to make tubes is slower then plastic, but can be done without breaching the oil biome. On the other, if you DO have plastic production up and running, you can automatically pump out plastic faster in late game. A balanced choice all around.
