I see you've accepted my friend request, so I'm DMing you now.
Can't wait to see what you've got. If its anything like the BP I already have, chances are I'll love it :D

This specific turret was an early prototype. It works incredibly well (if I don't say so myself), but it is not like my newest or best line. I haven't published the newest yet, but the turret from the Kharak AAV is a newer generation of railgun and the turret does not use scripts (just careful balancing a a control block. Ofc if you just love the look of this, I would be happy to join your server. Another option is I could simply give new the newest unpublished version or you could snag the one barrel railgun that I posted that is designed to be easy attached to anything and also does not use scripts.

Soo I have a rather unique problem with this turret.
First off, I LOVE IT. Its incredible......but...
I'm trying to install it on my massive capital ship.
Only problem is, I have to replace your cockpit with a remote controller.
If I do that, whenever I take control of it, it refuses to use the rotors the way your cockpit is using them. Could you join my server and help me?

Not actually vanilla, requires DLC

Thanks WedgedMouse05!

Carl: I have several versions on the workshop at this point. This is very stable considering it is 3 rails mounted in a turret with allot of attention to looks and designed for earth gravity.... but for the most usable version... I would check out the piston gun by itself. I have an upcoming piston gun with 3x range that is actually smaller. I can share that with you if you like.
Jockey_Strappers 19. feb. 2020 kl. 14:46
After several trials it does indeed seem to jam often in 0g, sometimes the conveyor will be destroyed but the warhead will still stick around inside the barrel after normal firing procedure and sometimes even on the first shot, I do of course take care to avoid all movement during this.
WedgedMouse05 19. feb. 2020 kl. 1:20
looks like something from halo
akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 18. feb. 2020 kl. 21:03
Harbinger- I would love that. Do you know how to delete the cockpit and set up the script so it runs from any ship it is connected to?
TheGaminODST 18. feb. 2020 kl. 20:12
Nice! Can't wait to use this for my base defense against my friend xD
Locomotor79 17. feb. 2020 kl. 6:15
post both parts that whay whe can always build both iff it isnt tomuch hassle
akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 16. feb. 2020 kl. 17:56
Locomotor79- My new land battleship/tank contains a small grid only turret. The entire design is mixed grid... but not the turret/cannon. Please enjoy. I can also post just the turret if you would like.

looks awesome, works great!
Locomotor79 15. feb. 2020 kl. 13:42
isee its small on large grid whit welder's for making the warhead's that is getting shot out on the target
akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 15. feb. 2020 kl. 9:19
Tyrenol- oooh? Somebody took your video and made a large grid version? I would love to see it. Also... when will you release that tiny piston gun you showed me? It was really compact and had an amazing range. Locomotor79- It isn't hard to make one of these that is entirely small grid... Basically... take the railgun from my workshop and set it up with anyone of the the rotor slaving scripts... and your done. But I am making one to mount on my land battleship now... if you don't mind waiting a bit.

@akaalexandermax, yeah i actually do have a working large grid design, i didnt make it myself though as i got it from someone who saw my video on piston guns.
Locomotor79 15. feb. 2020 kl. 4:18
looks good however this is a copy and past thing not a projector becausse it doesnt do multigrids
i know an thats a shame

Quickshadow10m 14. feb. 2020 kl. 11:51
It would be really good in space

I'm confused.... Are you Jhdominic? Hahah oh yeah buddy. Please try it!
Quickshadow10m 14. feb. 2020 kl. 11:36
So, how does the firing work?
Quickshadow10m 14. feb. 2020 kl. 11:35
Dude lol, but ok
Quickshadow10m 14. feb. 2020 kl. 11:18

akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 14. feb. 2020 kl. 9:57
Thanks Tyrenol- If your curious... I tested these against the one you showed me... and you achieve an average distance of ~34% longer in a straight line (even when firing the same ammunition type)! However, you might enjoy that these do not buck or pull the vehicle they are attached to. After our last talk... I played around and these don't catch the sides anymore either: the power setting is much lower and the projector was moved. Have you managed to make a large grid piston gun? Someone else asked... I tried and have not yet succeeded. Double stacking the pistons like your youtube video shows seems to not work with large grids in the same way. I don't know why? I have another design that uses a landing gear to create tension... but have not tested it on a large grid. That also creates allot of shaking (on a small grid). Ideas??
akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 14. feb. 2020 kl. 9:47
Blade- Thank you! If you want to see this mounted on a small grid... please check out the "crab." I like your ideas... please do incorporate this in your own stuff.
Blade Viridian 14. feb. 2020 kl. 9:24
Congrats on making it to the front page dude!
i'll definitely be trying to incorporate your turrets into a nice looking ship!

also might i request you try and make a single barrel ver. for small grid ships?
Tyrenol 14. feb. 2020 kl. 8:42
Looks great!
akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 13. feb. 2020 kl. 20:13
SuspiciousCheese- Absolutely!
SuspiciousCheese 13. feb. 2020 kl. 17:55
I'm not very active in SE right now due to work, but if I build something off one of your designs do I have your permission to post it if I leave a link to the original?
akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 13. feb. 2020 kl. 16:55
Frostwaffel... It is a mixed grid gun... but I think you mean... can you build a piston gun with large grid pistons. Thus far... no.. although you can build gravity based weapons instead. I have attempted this and would love to learn I'm wrong. Suspicious... If you want something super practical... Take one of my single stable rail guns from the workshop and just build armor around it into a brick. One gun almost never malfunctions. You will still hit much harder than a missile launcher or even a couple missile launchers and you maybe able to fire through an open door if you don't want to build something more complex. I believe each missile strike does 2% damage to heavy armor. Just one of these can destroy three layers of heavy armor in 2 hits and ofc destroys one layer in one hit. I don't even know the limit to the number of light armor blocks... it is allot. Ofc the lights and other details can be removed...
SuspiciousCheese 13. feb. 2020 kl. 16:21
So yeah after using this, 9/10 PMW. Very stable, only real issue is that it is quite vulnerable to incoming fire. Also you might want to put that thing about pressing 2 twice in the description in case the comment gets buried.
Zote 13. feb. 2020 kl. 15:30
you could lauch ships (fighters and stuff) from a station or battleship with that.
what you could do with it is awesome.
Zote 13. feb. 2020 kl. 15:28
does that only work with small blocks?
akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 13. feb. 2020 kl. 14:47
Thank you Frostwaffel and thank you Blade. Carl I love your idea about the additional timer block. If you ever want to play around... I would be happy to partner a bit. If you like this kind of player made weapons... my line of SAM and mixed grid missiles are deadly and compact. Please check them out as well. They can be mounted to almost anything with a bit of care. The most stable piston gun is currently mounted on my "crab" walker. This is a small grid walker fully capable of using a piston gun "sniper" without common error. If anyone likes... I have also posted this turret on a single timer with a laser. Please review :)
Zote 13. feb. 2020 kl. 7:55
Yo this is awesome.
Jockey_Strappers 13. feb. 2020 kl. 6:53
other modules are working well however I noticed this one has two rails with unnatural behavior on the projectors. rails 2 and 3 left to right, they seem to almost immediately jam while the first rail functions normally.

can I also suggest a timer block procedure to momentarily lock the azimuth and elevation rotors the moment before firing? this would help reduce user error.
akaalexandermax  [ophavsmand] 12. feb. 2020 kl. 11:25
I have another version on the workshop that fires with one button if anyone prefers. All you need to do for this version is press 2 twice and 3 once. If you fire 3 without pressing 2 twice it will disable the projectors instead of blowing up. The instructions are written on a screen when sitting in the cockpit. If anyone experiences problems with the turning of the turret... that maybe related to scripts being turned off. The guns do not use scripts and are different from other piston guns in that they generate almost no clang. You can actually take one out and fire it without a mount. It is that stable. The only time they tend to blow themselves up is when whipping the turret quickly and firing. I would test this offline first, although I do shoot my friends with it on stable servers.
