Hi, it really is the best sound mod for those who like the military tactical style. In the comments I've seen that they say it doesn't work, but it's a lie. I've only subscribed to the mod and it worked perfectly for me, I loved it, 100/10 rating.😎👍

Thank you! Those sounds were just too great to be left in the dirt.

Hey there, it's been quite a while. I've refined my modding skills quite a bit by now and managed to "fix" your mod for clientside usage. It works perfectly now. I had to change two sounds (chainlink steps and wade sounds) and had to cut down the overall number of sounds to the vanilla value. That means 80 sounds for running and 72 sounds for walking. I guess you managed to have over 200 sounds due to scripts, but I have no clue about scripting. The sounds however are handpicked to preserve the overall feeling of the soundscape.
With your permission I'd love to upload this. You get of course all the credit that is due and I would link this. My suggested upload title would be "Tactical Gear Footsteps [Fixed]".

@BENNI.RoR from my perspective, I'll leave it here as it is since I used this as serverside and all sounds in my server have generated a soundcache so even if a single sound is 3 seconds long, there still be no problems

If you tried to make this soundmod serverside, there should be no problems once you put this on console

snd_rebuildaudiocache

the sound cache won't replace the original, though it will be generated for the serverside so all sounds will be loaded, and the footsteps sounds will be replaced.

Thanks. Sometimes L4D2 modding is just cursed or something. I created 3 mods now and with each of them I encountered problems that were so incredibly tedious to fix and sometimes it took me days to even find out what was wrong. I am not claiming that I tried to fix your mod 24/7 in the months that have passed but everytime I tried I ran into a wall. If you still care about your mod and really wanto to bring this thing out I would just try to re-create it from scratch.

@BENNI.RoR that's fine, you did your best at least
BENNI.RoR 14. juli 2020 kl. 8:57
Okay, several months have passed now. I managed to create two footstep mods on my own, but I just can't seem to fix this own. I'm sorry mate.
BENNI.RoR 19. apr. 2020 kl. 9:24
Okay, sounds like a good plan.
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 19. apr. 2020 kl. 9:11
@BENNI.RoR I don't have those sound problems on my end since I made my version serverside and rebuilt the sound cache on the serverside folder, also mine contained more footstep sounds than the original game did. From walking and running sounds, also I included a game_sounds_physics.txt in there to add more sounds into the game. Rest assured this will work perfectly on serverside rather than normal server addons. I never wanted to upload this mod but still decided to upload anyways due to the workshop not having any tactical footsteps mod. If you can manage to upload a fixed version, please do add a video, and also add to the title of your mod Client Version .. I will rename this into Serverside Version once yours is done uploading in the workshop.

Good news. I found out what caused us the trouble. We both made the same mistake that created those glitched sounds. At least I assume that you also made this mistake. My footstep mod did not work because I did not take the walking sounds into account. Some, not all of them, are shorter than the running sounds causing those sound problems. I also found out why some of my sounds did not work. For some reason the chainlink and wade sounds have a sample rate 22050 Hertz. Literally ALL other samples are in the usual 44100 Hertz. So in the end that means that I could fix your mod if I still got your permission.
BENNI.RoR 16. apr. 2020 kl. 12:16
Okay, I guess I am officially giving up. No matter what I tried, I can't seem to fix your mod. Each of your sound samples looks fine: the right length, the right sample rate etc. I also wasted this entire day trying to create a footstep mod myself and encountered the same problems. Most sounds were absolutely fine, but some just wouldn't work properly, no matter what I tried. Sorry to disappoint, but those damn footstep sound mods are just beyond me.

@BENNI.RoR surething
BENNI.RoR 11. apr. 2020 kl. 12:04
Ok then. I will report back as soon as I have made some progress. Thank you.
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 11. apr. 2020 kl. 11:20
@BENNI.RoR The original one is this one on my workshop .. you can download and edit the soundfiles if you want
BENNI.RoR 11. apr. 2020 kl. 10:38
That is very kind of you. Can you send me the original .VPK file? I'll be sure to give you all the proper credit IF I manage to fix this.
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 11. apr. 2020 kl. 7:33
@BENNI.RoR I'll authorize you on fixing the mod and upload it on your workshop, since I'm quite busy on doing mods for gmod. You can do anything in that on my behalf
BENNI.RoR 11. apr. 2020 kl. 6:09
Are you still there? I am really interested in fixing this problem together.
BENNI.RoR 8. apr. 2020 kl. 7:28
Okay, I tried your lite version but it does not work. In fact, it did even show up in the addons menu in the game. So what I did was open the .VPK with GCFScape and recompile it. I guess it didn't show up in the addons menu because you did not include an addoninfo.txt. Anway, after recompiling and adding an addoninfo.txt it did show up in the addons menu. I started the game with it enabled but I was only hearing the standard footsteps of L4D2. No new footsteps.
BENNI.RoR 8. apr. 2020 kl. 6:43
Thanks, I'll try it out. I can already see that you removed a script from the mod. I'll report back as soon as possible.

Yes, I understand that. I just wonder why some mods need this some don't. It's kinda random. Anyway, even tho I let the game build the sound cache it doesn't work. There are sound glitches when walking on wooden surfaces. Everything else works fine and sounds great.
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 7. apr. 2020 kl. 8:38
@BenniRoR you need to put the command on console so that the sound files sequences will register to the existing sound cache
BENNI.RoR 7. apr. 2020 kl. 7:56
Hello. I have some experience with audio mods and I just wonder why we still have to use the console command to rebuild the sound cache. At first I thought "Yeah, he probably just forgot to build a sound cache when making this mod."
But when I opened your mod with GCFScape I saw that there IS actually a sound cache. You have any idea why it's still buggy?
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 26. okt. 2019 kl. 23:56
@★JคҜe★ well, that's because its almost like the one I made with all 8 survivors mod which in fact forced me to make a tutorial video, but since everything is fine now, have fun. At least you know a bit of function on the sound command now.
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 26. okt. 2019 kl. 18:54
@★JคҜe★ maybe you'll do a bit of researching about the game's commands, if you don't know the basics, I won't be providing a fully detailed instruction on how things work, it will be up to you to find out how the console commands work rather than complain to me impatiently. What's next? provide a video? No, because if people can't follow it, its just a waste.

@Minuteman1776 type snd_rebuildaudiocache on console
Minuteman1776 26. okt. 2019 kl. 2:24
not work for me idk why :( help please
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 25. okt. 2019 kl. 22:21
@★JคҜe★ Next time, READ THE DESCRIPTION
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 25. okt. 2019 kl. 21:56
just wait for the loading to finish, once it finishes loading, the console will pop up and once that pops up, type quit to exit the game and then you are ok to start the game
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 24. okt. 2019 kl. 21:15
only once. Once you started the game, go back to the main menu and type the command on the console
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 24. okt. 2019 kl. 20:29
have you tried snd_rebuildaudiocache?
Raizen  [ophavsmand] 24. okt. 2019 kl. 19:49
@★JคҜe★ did you remove anything in the mod?
