@Azrael. An old post but I know what's happening now.

Whistler have their entire arms marked as ORANGE part. So, when you use a mod that hides the orange part of the body, like YAKNM patches, they get invisible.

Why? Because male genitalia is marked as ORANGE at YAKNM and patches make pants hide it

Sorry, I know next to nothing about modeling and texturing.

I checked out the mod's part map in GIMP, and it has off-pure colors.

@Pico Thanks! Btw, judging from the logs, the race mod's human_male_head_mask.dds file most likely causes "Part map contains invalid colour" warnings. Do you know anything about this? I worry they contribute to RAM bloating or maybe even crashing. I could also try experimenting with the load order to see what works.

@theo Whistler Files should fix the crashes caused by the outdated body file used in this mod. The additions & changes mod simply replaces the file with a new one, so you don’t need both.
For safety you could probably put the Whistler Files first, before the race mod.

Huh, this happened from uninstalling it? I honestly have no idea why the game would be trying to use the Whistler editor file. Usually that crash (I think) happens if you DO have the mod installed and encounter the NPC Whistler, due to the mod’s file trying to use the old unused vanilla Whistler race which was removed in an update.
I would suggest trying Shidan’s Whistler files mod and seeing if it fixes it.

I uninstalled this mod and every single time I load a save (even a new one) I get an error message telling me "Missing race editor limits file for race:'Whistler'" any idea on a fix?

The character's hands disappear when something is equipped in the leg slot, is there any way to fix this?

Hello! May i please use your Whistler mesh for personal purposes? By personal purposes i mean slapping a custom texture on her and trying to make another mod about The Whistler. I tried ressurecting the model from the files of the game, but turns out i am really not good at weightpainting. I think I found a potential crash. The body files for the Whistler NPC still tries to call the old rebirth vanilla race, and it seems to cause a crash if you don't have Shidan's restored files for it. I messed around with this and tried re-exporting the body file, and that has worked for me currently.

I appreciate the update to re-add the files. I was using Shidan's mod to return them, but this works too.

Be careful, this mod causes constant crashes because they put characters without meshes or textures, which when loading the area where it is destined to spawn generates the crashes.

Do not engage with this mod if you are mod heavy with custom races.
I suffered from consistent crashes.

You shoul also consider pitting Whistler files mod at the bottom since it operates skeletons (and possibly hair) for custom races.

I'm having a trouble of the mesh on the right arm of the whistler.When I recruited the whistler and put clothes on it, it seems the mesh of the clothes on the right arm is out of place.

Am I just supposed to attempt recruitment dialogue again and again until I get lucky ?

I've finally fixed the load order and captured the thing, I even yoinked its head from the ashlands. I tried putting it back on but it still refuses to join ?

Can confirm the whistler files mod fixes the crash.

The whistler files are part of the base game, and they were removed as part of an update sometime in 2022. Look up the "whistler files" mod here on the workshop, that fixed it for me.

i dont know why, but as soon as i approach Whistler's exile on Leviathan coast, game insta-crash. i have A LOT of mods, including pearl hive, but there is nothing but whistlers exile in that place. also i have mods such as dark hive, reactive worlв and hive expended

Hello, I'm developing an overhaul mod for Kenshi - Wanted to ask if I could use the Whistler from this mod with credit. I have the original by Shidan but by the sounds of it I need a mod in order to make that one work fully. Could I use this one?

@Nyu Thank you for the link. I too was getting frustrated as I was unaware of this change. Kept crashing when I got to his location. I spent ages deleting mods thinking they were causing it when it was Lo-Fi themselves. Ack - so much game play lost as I actually deleted some play through's thinking they were unplayable.

@Nyu Thank you very much, I was banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out, trying to make various patches etc. All the while it was Lo-Fi themselves who screwed my game. I'm really thankful for that little resource mod.

As already reported by someone, the Whistler files have been deleted from the base game. So the mod doesn't work anymore. (at least to me)

Hey, i've been having trouble with this mod. I started a new game with one of my characters being of the Whistler race, and it when smoothly at first, but when I try loading that save after exiting out of the game, my game always crashes. Any idea of what I can do to fix this?

Hmm, that seems weird, my whistlers are both immune to acid and the acid lakes, even when they dont have the whistler head

Although they do complain that the acid rain is killing them and stuff

possible bug, they are not immune to acid like other robots are. acid rain doesn't seem to do much but the acid lakes definitely kill them fast, unlike other robots who are immune

Hey just a question so I managed to get the Whistler head head in Cat-Lon's Exile and my character still has injuries -45% to all science, medic, robotics, etc even with the head on and I don't know how to get the head stat or get the injury removed because everything is fully healed at the moment.

Any way to get the injury removed or to get the head to function properly?
