@Muhai: Ah, okay. I just wondered because I had heard competitive league players complain about unusual effects in general and seen many of them use no-hats mods for tournaments.

My PC used to be able to run TF2 at 120 fps, since 2015 it's about 60 fps, despite the upgraded graphics card, but from what I read TF2 is CPU-intensive.

It is just a fun concept. Nothing practical about it, and a sprite animation shouldn't eat up much of your FPS. If that is so, then your computer probably doesn't meet the specs for Team Fortress to begin with.

How much framerate does loking at it eat?
I understand why there is a black cloud as background to make the hypercube stand out better, but I feel the trail of black pixels is unneccessary.
