i think the elite grunts are used once at the end of black mesa (second pause point at the ascension elevator with the two generators) and the controllers break the containers

How's the progress coming along on the less cartoony version? I think this is already an improvement over the default model, but it does look kind of out of place. It looks like the hivehand doesn't belong with it.

Default Elite Soldiers are Agrunt_02 located in Models/xenians/agrunt_02.
You can see that they are bigger than default one and more detailed.
Also textures are bit different and more dry than the ones you met in earth levels.

I thought so when I first saw them, but apparently not. The elites are bigger and they shoot snarks at you.

Elites are in the end of the Xen factory levels, no?
The ones right before you get your first power trip with the Gluon Gun, they have the Hive Hand that shoots in Spirals.

The grunts in Endgame are actually just the regular kind. Whatever part of the game the elites were used in seems to have been cut completely.

Yeah I'm looking at the concept art, but most of it is still going to be based on the in-game model from HL1 (The non-HD one). It probably still won't look nearly as realistic as the default, but I'll do the best I can.

FYI, the AG Elites are used in the bad ending in Endgame IIRC

I'm not one for modelling but I do have a suggestion for the new model or if you wish to grace us with an alternate model, I think it'd be good to look at some of the alien grunt concept art, its easily accessable on the half life wiki and I think the style seen in the concept art would work well in Black Mesa's art style (I find sven coop's alien grunt model a good demonstration of this concept)

I agree, and I've actually started making a new model to replace this one a few weeks ago. It won't be perfect but it will be better than this one at least.

the model is way to cartoonish, compared to the realistic default models the grunt looks like its made out of play-doh

I also wanted to completely redo the textures, but that's going to have to wait.

Not yet, but I've pretty much finished replacing all of the models. Since the rest of Interloper is probably really close to releasing I think I'm going to wait until then to update it just in case anything else needs to be done there.

Does this work with the naked grunts in Interloper?

Which is great since it is basically the two original versions of the Grunt in one model. Amazing work, Brain Dead.

I would say this mod is a mix between the two versions of the Alien Grunt from Half-Life 1 (both normal/vanilla and HD version)
