Can you make a version that lasts forever? I wanna do a chemical hell warfare thing where everyone is wearing hazmat suits and the chemical weapon mostly obscures vision. Like that mission in COD Black ops 1.

The Ammotype ist "colorgrenade", as used in the refill grenade:
a:GiveAmmo(1, "colorgrenade", true)
, but for the normal, grey smore grenade its "grenade" ammo type

Yeh, I see where you are comming from, but these are primarly designed for roleplay Server, not for competitive gamemodes.
To let everything render all the time would cause a lot of users with weaker computer to have low frames, while this causes no problems, but have to aspect to get abused if you really want to abuse it.

My only suggestion is the ability to add a delay before they go off

Because it doesn’t go off as soon as you remove the pin

Checked the code;
1. Requires Counter-Strike : Source because it uses the viewmodels from that game
2. Viewmodels are inverted because CS:S Viewmodels are naturally on the left side instead.
3. World Model works just fine. Garry's Mod has some assets from CS:S which is what you see from a third person view and when the grenade is thrown as an entity.

How to Fix This (Works for both client and server-side)
1. Open the original file; it only has one folder which is titled "Lua"
(Download the original file set from {LÄNK BORTTAGEN}
2. There are three sub-folders called "autorun", "entities", and "weapons". Open the 3rd folder.
3. Each grenade has a label with the term "teargas". Select the color of the grenade you want to modify and fix. Do NOT modify the base or entity lua.
4. Open the lua file. You can use notepad or C++, as long as it can read the text. For server owners, your host control panel should be able to open it and let you modify the files.

5. Look for "SWEP.ViewModel" and "SWEP.ViewModelFlip". Should be at the very bottom.
6. You can switch this to any v_model you want, and set the viewmodel flip to false so it appears on the right side properly.
The viewmodel I used was "models/weapons/v_grenade.mdl"

To install (Both Client and Server-Side)
For clients, simply extract or place the whole file folder into Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons
For server owners, you might need to compress the file into a .zip before you can upload it to the same location for the server directory.

Nein, der Rauch wird nur clientside berechnet und die Verwendung der Granaten beeinträchtigt die Serverperformance quasi gar nicht. Wenn der Client einen sehr schlechten PC hat, könnten die FPS des Client geringfügig sinken, allerdings auch nur wenn der Client direkt in die Granate schaut, wenn der Client woanders hinschaut wird der Rauch nicht berechnet. Wir hatten beim Testen und nutzen dieser Granaten nie Performanceprobleme.

You can actual carry the Smoke grenade with the Gravity Gun and the smoke will appear always on the place of the grenade. So it is clearly possible to to make an addon to like pickup the grenade and push them out of the way.

I wish it was possible for props to actually push smoke out of the way/out of the cloud. Probably not possible with the source engine though.
