Hey Fumblesneeze, can you please update to 1.3? Your mod is throwing hundreds of red errors while in game, so it is impossible to use it right now.
The other ice mod uses Deep Storage, which i dont want to use...
I need frozen lakes in my game... :-}

thanks for making this niche mod! I'd love to play an inuit playthrough on an ice sheet, using this mod. Any possibility of it getting updated to 1.3?

Somehow after freezing and unfreezing deep water turned into shallow water.

@FrodoOf9Fingers this mod doesn't freeze salt water (see maps with ocean tiles next to them), but the puddles on ice sheet maps are not correctly marked as salt water, that would require patching the map generator.

would appreciate if sufficiently low temperatures allowed for repairs without needing to spend ice (or just a passive repair to the ice)

Would also love being able to turn off the ice creation part. Salt water freezes differently than fresh water, so it makes sense to have a few pools on an ice sheet, but this mod will freeze them and prevent fishing >.>

I have a little problem with this mod, the swamps and deep water under all became shallow water when the ice melted. any ideas ?

as for DBH -> Ice, could make an ice machine that pawns can stock ice from for 10 water per cube, requires water and power

At the least being able to get down to refridgerated in non-electrical means is nice, but ye, would be nice to be able to get to like, -3, a good heat wave would still start melting it, but you wouldn't be on the verge of freezing and refridgerated

@Holgast you can just leave the ice blocks in the room, they will cool it. Or put ice statues or ice walls inside it. They will cool it down up to 0°C. @DisKorruptd will do, next update I'll add a means to create ice though, looking to have an optional dependency on dubs badhygiene for water->ice.
@Jaxx You can use it just fine with 1.2 without changing anything.

this sounds awesome, just what I was looking for! When this is updated to 1.2, maybe you could add some sort of ice box which is like a passive cooler but better? would be amazing for tribal runs

oh, second question, does the ice use the mining productivity? like, does it have an output based on one's mining skill? because that too would be kinda nice, being able to use better miners to get more output from the ice,

your pictures show stacks of ice that are 200+ but using it with LWM's Deep Storage, it's only stacking up to 15, I first thought it was a thing of stack mass, but the wooden pallet I'm stacking it in doesnt have a mass capacity

Nope, haven't needed to harvest ice on that map or anything. Cold weather hits, ice builds up, but as it thaws sometimes I'll get that tick error. I can't think of anything other than maybe a corpse on the ice causes issues?

Yes that is a problem I've had, too. Not sure how to handle that yet, but my thoughts were to just allow building bridges on ice directly. As a workaround, you can build a room around the area where you want to build bridges and slightly heat it up. Another way is to have two pawns: one builds the bridges, the other one removes the ice. Ice only forms on tiles that are connected to land or to other ice, so if you open up more space you should be able to build in the middle while the outer edges start icing over again.

I really appreciate the mod, I alwas consider it as basic feature that should exist in vanilla. The major problem is that ice forms too fast. It's just within few seconds. With -15 C there is no way to dig the ice and build a brigde if you want your structure to resist ice thawing. ;(
Anybody knows how to change the rate maybe?
