@Aaronthelemon - It makes the sniper increase the accuracy stat of the shooter, so it benefits across all ranges. The benefit's just larger at long range than at close range.

Honestly as good as this sounds, slapping an optic on a rifle doesn't actually make you more accurate with it at a closer range, only at longer (100,200m+) ranges

I would like to recommend that this mod include a way for the user to add other weapons to a list that gives the weapons this behavior. Perhaps in the mod settings section. Not sure how it can be done but some mods do have similar functionality. It means you don't have to add mod compatibility patches, leaving it to the user to add specific weapons.

Well, i wanted to suggest it, but stopped, after reading comments. Decided to ask first... Yes, there is a tons of mods about weapons, and mod config, that allow player to choose by himself wich weapons are scoped - could be an interesting feature.
Err.... There is one more idea. It is possible to visualise pawn as "lying" on the floor, right? so... Tactical positioning, as lying on the ground with that sniper rifle - could be an interesting feature as well. Though, it could be some hard coding.

@MaxTillentine - For now, it's done solely through xpath, and the only weapon that's actually recognised as a sniper is the vanilla sniper rifle. It'd be good to get a mod config system in at some point.

How it works? Mod by itself chooses, wich rifles are sniper ones, and which is not, or it is a custom choice in mod config?

Would it be possible to set the test operation up to search by weaponTags instead of the specific defName to extend functionality? Assuming that it isn't too heavy handed if it is possible.

@Sevrun - Could do, though patching is a bit of a low priority thing. Got a WIP mod (though pretty late WIP), as well as still needing to push the updated GitHub releases of the rest of my mods and rewriting some of Watermill Tweaks... and then updating some of the RimWorld wiki and eventually getting to simply playing :D
