Sorry for the long time without updates, I just updated the mod to 1.6, but as Ascythian, you want to have a look at "Animal Apparel: Framework"

I had a look at it and the Vanilla Expanded shield belt issue seems to longer be a thing (?)

@Alex - You can set up a custom apparel policy in the animal tab, just like for colonists

i also have the issue with shield belt. animals become invisible and error message spamming the log.

One of the Vanilla Expanded mods adds a new type of shield belt. Some animals will randomly try to wear this shield belt, and if they do you'll get an "error drawing animal" spamming your logs, and the animal will be invisible until you take it off

I found an annoying bug: when equipping a shield belt the animal disappears. It appears to be the fault of a conflict between this and Vanilla Apparel Expanded - Accessories.

This is the full mod list i used for testing:

We are using the old Animal Equipment mod from Owlchemist, but it's not the problem. We used Animal Gear Basic too and the problem persists anyway.

Is there a way to set a default animal clothing option to something other than anything? If I forget to manually change any new animals assignment and then get a shield belt or something, one of the animals will go and equip it, turn invisible and throw constant rendering errors until I track them them down and force them to drop it.

@Shayne - I have not seen that myself yet, but I will have a look at it

@Poindexter1985 - GiddyUp 2 (at least the fork) seems ok so far and the performance is hard to compare, as nearly all graphics-related code had to be re-done for 1.5 (the changes to rendering in 1.5 should result in better performance, but I have not done any tests yet)

In 1.4, I was using Owlchemist's fork of this from GitHub: https://github.com/Owlchemist/animal-gear

That fork noted three differences compared to the original:
- Hugslib dependency has been stripped
- The code has been peer reviewed for performance refinements (runs approx 2x faster)
- Support has been switched over to Giddy-Up 2

I see that the HugsLib dependency still exists, but have you (or do you intend to) incorporate any of the other improvements from the fork?

Are there any known incompatibilities? Perhaps with Animal Tab? I'm not seeing anywhere to assign the armor to animals, and when I made some animal armor, pawns would try and equip it which would result in a big red square over them due to missing textures.

@Huppias - The helmets should now show up again (I just updated the mod: version 1.5.0.1) there is still a bit of the overlay showing at the bottom of the helmets hiding some of the armor, but I think it was like that before / is likely not easily preventable from my side as things currently are in 1.5 and with GiddyUp-2

But I found a BUG ,Animal Gear,Giddy-Up 2 Forked and Animal Equipment are incompatible.
such as : When horses wear animal plate armor ,The image to the south shows Horse_overlay_south.png

@CuuLaaaBu - I would go with the 1.4 version of 'Animal Equipment' + you need this mod here 'Base' but otherwise it would be either 'Animal Equipment' + 'Base' or 'Basic' + 'Base' -- 'Animal Equipment' has murch more content than 'Basic' but they overlapp/conflict otherwise as they do the same thing.

Hi Dylan, Im new to animal gear mods, and I still dont understand and feel really dizzy after reading all your mods' introduction page... Which one or more than one mods should I sub and activate in game? Animal Gear seems to be the "framework", but it has a preview pic with "Animal Gear: Base", which quite similar to the Animal Gear Basic mod and I wonder if the two are just like "the same newer one replace the older version"... And the introduction page listed many mods' links which some are outdated, while the overly concise introduction makes it difficult to understand the meaning...

Sorry for the long update time (a lot of work / operation as I wrote about on my other mod 'Children School and Learning'), I just updated the mod to Rimworld 1.5 mods with gear should work with it even if they are not updated for 1.5 (at least the gear itself, if they also do other stuff they might have issues of course without a 1.5 update)

@Chunnyluny - Thanks for trying to update the mod (it was a pain to change essentially everything related to rendering for 1.5, can't imagine the work if you first have to learn what the mod tries to do [as everything is a weird hack I would say ;D])

@All - oh and if I shouldn't be able to update my mods in the future, yeah feel free to create a new version or re-use parts of it

@cyanobot - you should be able to work with the layers like 'OnSkin' / 'Shell' like the scarf and the armor in AnimalGear Basic

@Miso - I will have a look at that

im still working on updating this mod, I want to keep it compatible for 1.4 and make it work for 1.5 too. so the assemblies should be build for both versions I think, my C# skills are none, but I had some help from other modders, will let you guys know if I have it posted on my github and the steam workshop link to animal gear (continued)

this mod is not compatible for 1.5 yet because in 1.5 they changed pawn rendering, and animals are also pawns, I'm working on updating it, but first I will need permission to reupload it to the workshop or anything from Dylan!!

Isn't working with 1.5 for me, the animals don't have the gear slots like they used to and when they equip an item like normal it just vanishes.

FYI, if you uninstall this mid save while waiting for the update and get crashes/grey screen use the mid-save saver mod to get your file back.
