Does anyone know how to extend the limit of the faceposer's sliders? I have a model with a lot of sliders and it wont let me use them because it goes over the limit

Well It was worth a try. I'll be restoring the November 2025 changes now.

Hopefully Facepunch can fix this soon.

Okay. I'm rolling back all recent changes done and restoring the tool to its pre-November 2025 state to see if this bug is specific with the tool updates from this month or is a deeper engine issue.

yeah, same here, still nothing. i had a feeling it was an issue with gmod itself, i just hope this isn't outside of the scope of a simple bugfix on FP's end.

Hey Sirgibsalot, just tested and it doesn't seem to have fixed it, sorry. Model still has the same issue as before, last flex stays "on" and cannot be manipulated.

Seems like the 96th flex issue is a problem caused by the latest Gmod update to the faceposer. I updated this with a POSSIBLE bug fix to the issue. Please let me know if it works or not.

Can also confirm, the 96th flex does not work. dupes with the flex on *do* work, but only until you use the faceposer.

I really hope this is something that gets fixed soon, because it genuinely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ irritates me and I don't have the werewithal to edit models to remove flexes- i tried.

Can confirm, 96th flex is acting weird after the new update. Model ignores it completely.

yeh i think my 95 flexes only theroy is confirmed, i removed one pseudo-stereo flex (which was only one flex controller, an eyeblink, which was redundant anyway by having a true stereo flex that did the same thing below it), and the flex i wanted to move came back to life!

Just tested now, that 96th flex doesn't seem to work for some reason... even if i rename the flex. Maybe i miscounted my flex controllers, but iirc a model i have has some greyed out flex sliders cuz i think it had more controllers that what gmod considers the max.

Or it's some source engine jank that just doesn't like a 96th facial flex, much like how we can't normally get 32-jointed ragdolls.

oh im still working on my model, so i'll test it once i re-fix my model cuz im running into some weird vertex issues on the model on my end, should've took that compile warning seriously...

I think the addon now need another update, gmod updated their facposer again, the current tool also can't move the 96th flex even tho said flex slider shows up. I have a model with 96 flexes which is basically the max and the last slider DOES work in HLMV++, i swore it moved that last flex before the update happened.

@RidiculouslyCheesy: Nope, it's up to the developers at Facepunch (though I think only one person actively works on Gmod anymore) to do anything about it.

From what little I know, raising the flex limit any further would break flex compatibility with Gmod's networking code, so it's not a priority since making sure it plays nice with that requires more than just making a number bigger.

@RidiculouslyCheesy: Gmod only supports up to 96 flexes. It's an engine-level limitation and there's nothing I can do about it.

Not planning on touching the categories, but you can collapse a category for a model by clicking on the blue bar with its name.

Randomize inverted flexes button seems to do nothing. Also do you think you could add an option to disable categories? They can be inconvenient on certain models

@DoomliBug: I think the default faceposer would likely give the same error as it got a bit of an overhaul to its UI in this update and it sounds like it broke something that tool depended on.

Hm... So, it seems the issue lies with some incompatibility with "Composite Bonemerge Tool". The tool basically adds the flexes of bonemerged models together. When I try to use faceposer on these models, it was working prior to the update but now gives the error: "[Enhanced Faceposer] lua/weapons/gmod_tool/stools/faceposer.lua:357: table index is nil"

DoomliBug: The changelog for the Gmod update says
"Fixed faceposer breaking after 384 different flex names were loaded in a session - The limit is now 1024 and and if it is reached, a console warning is printed."

So it's still possible to hit this limit, though you'd need to have a lot more ragdolls loaded than before and you'll get a warning printed into the console when you do.

@YellowCaballeroFan: A bug was fixed with flexes not working due to the engine hitting a limit with the amount of flex names being loaded at once (384), which is being more than doubled in the next patch. It's safe to say it's been the cause of this issue, especially since anyone using more than a few custom models with unique flex names can hit this limit quickly.

If you want to opt into the beta branch and see if it's fixed before the update gets released in (hopefully) a few days, you can find the details HERE on how to do that.

Sometimes when I use the Faceposer, it doesn't work, except for the bottom option that just distorts the face. How can I fix it?
