This is awesome. Wondering if you'll revive this in CS2.

its 2023, and I still come to the workshop occasionally to see who has tried creating Singapore on a more accurate scale, this is very very well made already, a 10/10

"Painstakingly made by hand, and every tree on Bukit Timah Hill was placed by hand (brush didn't work). The map is tilted to fit the island nicely." Mad respect!

There are game limits (forced by the Unity engine) which means you'll run out of nodes, buildings etc before you will fill a full map - and there is nothing modders can do to bypass this. This is why the devs restrict the vanilla game to 9 tiles, so that you can never outgrow the game. But you CAN build a huge city.

I have no idea. I haven't tried filling up the map with buildings, but I would guess its heavily dependent on the computer you use to play C:S.

There are a few cases of cities with more than a million cims on reddit though, so it should be quite possible to build over a large map.

is it possible to build all over a large map like this and not crash?

@BonBonB, That's something I did not expect! Haha!

Genius works! Oh, my God! Almost perfect imagination!! :steamhappy:A question, is the real East Island refinery without oil resources built?

I know that, but this is an old colonial era railway we are taking about. It was bult in 1932 and it's not built for speed. Britain was still experimenting with high speed trains, let alone build one with speed in mind in their colonies halfway across the globe. The British built it mostly to transport goods from Malaya/Peninsular Malaysia to our port.

I took images from google map and I used Image Overlay mod to trace out the route. It's just like that, not straight or having the widest curves. The alignment is reasonably realistic, because it is what it used to be (before it got demolished).

Here's the exact alignment from a Singaporean government website:
https://www.sla.gov.sg/Press-Room/Highlights/Upcoming-events-along-the-Rail-Corridor/Rail-Corridor-Map

However, I will take note of your suggestions if I were to ever make a fictional map.

The straighter and flatter the track = higher speed. So basically all railways make tracks as flat as possible with widest curves possible if a curve is necessary. Subways, light rail and streetcars may not be as wide and steeper. This also is true for roads and why it is normal to prefer building a grade crossing to avoid all hills. Sometimes it is not possible so very likely the road will go up or down since it can take a steeper grade.

I have no idea what you meant by straight railways being more realistic, but the route is based on the now demolished KTM railway tracks in Singapore.

I realised now that I had missed out the only grade crossing at some major road after googling about it. Other than that, the other grade crossings are at minor roads which I did not include. Also, the only reason why there are only a few bridges is because there isn't really that many KTM railway bridges in Singapore. I admit I could improve on the tunnels though.

Railways are also straight as possible.
Whiskers 15. aug. 2018 kl. 14:16
This would be good if the railway was realistic. They are as flat as possible. It is roads that can go up or down, better yet just have a grade crossing. They are safe becasue I never have been hit.

nice map!

@mmbacabac, I did consider including the MRT network, but, I don't want to use the tracks from Metro Overhaul (makes the map require a mod) or replace with normal train track (then people will have to demolish it again to replace with Metro Overhaul tracks).

Since a lot of the MRT tracks follow major roads, I guess its better to just leave it out since it isn't too difficult to replicate it.
Kukui 11. aug. 2018 kl. 21:47
Nice map, but it would be great if you could include real life MRT network? Just saying :). Good job!

Great, but too flat!
