Good tutorial from SoftwareSimian below on how to (hopefully) resolve the problem.
Love your work Chief W, but please don't remove mods from the workshop, you can replace your work easily by updating instead.
If you have a new version of the mod, update it! Don't delete it and make a new one. That just breaks everything for everyone for no reason.
1) subscribe to this new version of the mod
2) from the main game menu, load game, click the [+] to select mods to load with. First sort by name and you will find the old version of the mod at the top with red !! saying mod not found, disable the old version of the mod. Then in search box type "mik" and enable this new version of the mod. Load your savegame
3) Once in the game, go through all your trains and replace any modified Mikados with the vanilla Mikado (set the replacement train, click Replace Now, wait till the train gets to the next station for replacement).
4) When all the modified Mikados have been replaced with vanilla Mikados, save your game, quit to main menu.
5) From main menu, load game, click [+] to select mods, type "mik" in search to find this mod, disable it. Load your game.
6) Your game should now load without problem.
At the top right of the mod list where you get the mod can't be found message, there is '+' button. Click that, sort the mods by name and the missing mod will appear at the top. You can then try to turn it off.
This mod turned off okay for me, but I was only in 1880 so didn't have any of the locomotives yet
I have not tried this myself, but no files from the original mod have been removed between the previous version and this version. If anything files have simply been added and, theoretically, it should work. That being said, it may be best for you to try it yourself.
