When you use a/an, which of those 2 is grammatically correct depends on whether the word to which a/an refers to starts with a vowel or a consonant. You basically avoid having a consonant followed by another consonant, and vowel followed by another vowel.
This streamlines both speaking and reading.

I like it, though the breathing effect when their chests blow up make me feel weird.
