Great mod, make battle quality more realistic while army always keeping their formation tight
Sanakan 3. jan. kl. 6:30
Ah, too bad Sudoku, but thanks! The battles are much better with your mod.
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 3. jan. kl. 3:18
@Sanakan
Sadly not, at least not from me, you may try looking for something similar.
Sanakan 2. jan. kl. 18:28
Great mod. Is there a version for Rome 2?
Sophie 14. sep. 2024 kl. 10:18
works like a charm and is super good
ewoane 21. aug. 2024 kl. 5:00
This mod brings formations back in play. Units are now aware that they need to stick to their position and hold the shield wall. No more sliding around to pick random 1v1s and break the formation, letting the enemy flood in.

Thank you for your work, a real must have mod.
Ligon Flarius 3. maj 2024 kl. 13:17
Thanks for this mod
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 28. mar. 2024 kl. 14:04
@Scarreds no, it doesn't change anything with the HP
JesusChristIsLord 7. mar. 2024 kl. 14:41
does this also bring back the HP system, or would I have to use the HP mod with this?
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 3. juli 2023 kl. 15:47
@Silas
Sadly I'm not playing Attila anymore :/
You can always modify the files and lower the melee hit chances - this will make soldiers fight longer.
Silas 14. juni 2023 kl. 17:44
Would you be willing to upload your personal modified version of the mod? I agree that even with this the combat is very fast.
Fuzzy Nova 26. dec. 2022 kl. 20:19
It makes combat for 1212 Medieval Kingdoms Overhaul mod way better. Add this with a handful of other good mods (Make gunpowder great again, medieval 1212 realistic smoke, MK 1212 AD NEW Mercenary units and MK 1212 AD new units mods for example) Just to name a few newer ones. There is a reason Medieval II still holds up today when its a 2006 pc game with Basic Graphics. It was well optimized. The graphics although plain have a charming asthetic for Battles. They didnt have too many ODD looking broken animations. yeah they were all the same give or take but it worked. I just bought Medieval II from the Mobile play store for my pixel 6a (was like $10 Plus The Americas, brittiana, crusades and teutonic Expanions all for ($6). Blows my mind

@You better commit sudoku thanks for leaving it as is. It might be interesting for others if you upload the modified version in a new workshop mod post. you can link it here for reference for people that prefer those changes.
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 10. dec. 2022 kl. 7:18
@Draco100000
Yeah, I can leave it be. I am using a modified version of the mod myself but it's just my preference.
@DxG6767
No.
@DreamNegater
No idea.
DreamNegater 10. dec. 2022 kl. 7:14
Does this improve FPS?
DxG6767 9. dec. 2022 kl. 3:01
Does this work with Realistic battle pack?
Draco100000 29. jan. 2022 kl. 13:57
Im just reading this recent comments, would it be possible for this mod to remain untouched in terms of combat speed? It works nicely when combined with other battle mods that do not work based on matched combat. For example mods that add high health units etc.
Either way thanks for this mod i have used it for a lot of years and brought me lots of fun.
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 20. jan. 2022 kl. 16:31
@SnowBlind
Thanks for feedback, I will try to look into it after my exams, since it will take some time to make battle tests.
SnowBlind 10. jan. 2022 kl. 14:53
amazing mod, which gives me some fps gains - however, combat is a big quick so I agree with your idea below to change stats to make it a bit slower
metafa 6. nov. 2021 kl. 7:15
Thanks a lot! Will try today and report if I notice anything unusual.
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 6. nov. 2021 kl. 7:13
It should if you put it in the highest priority.
metafa 6. nov. 2021 kl. 7:01
Will this work with Ancient Empires? Finally back into Attila and wanting to try this
jabbothehut 23. okt. 2021 kl. 0:10
@yuo better commit sudoku thanks brother
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 22. okt. 2021 kl. 16:37
It should if you put it in the highest priority.
jabbothehut 21. okt. 2021 kl. 2:47
does this owrk with medieval 1212?
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 17. okt. 2021 kl. 15:13
I've came back to Attila and noticed that the combat is quite fast now, even with this mod turned on. I'm thinking about changing the hit chance stats in order to make it last longer.
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 25. juli 2021 kl. 12:32
Yeah I left some killing moves to make the combat look more varied.
SamBlips 25. juli 2021 kl. 10:33
oh nvm, i guess what this mod does is remove the clunky duel animations and just left the kill animations?
SamBlips 25. juli 2021 kl. 10:26
I noticed some matched combat animations are in the game still. Though it might be because i was playing Age of Charlemagne...? Maybe the mod hasn't accounted for that?
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 10. juli 2021 kl. 17:43
Should be compatible with any mods that do not alter combat mechanics.
sam.pidgeon 9. juli 2021 kl. 14:42
is this compatible with dark ages fire and swords mod and unit packs which contain custom units etc?
Magnus Furius 24. maj 2020 kl. 14:13
Excellent mod. 100% need a version for MK 1212 though! ;)
Solon 17. feb. 2020 kl. 4:06
retrolasm...

You think that didn't really happen, in history, as one side gained advantage over another? Think again...

I prefer this to anything containing the sad "matched_combat" animations. The best way to modify rate of death is to modify 'battle_entities' file. I just had a battle where I outnumbered the enemy and my troop quality was vastly superior and it still took nearly 30 minutes to end the battle.

There is no fault with this mod at all ! This mod is a game changer !!
3S | Happy^o^[Virus] 16. feb. 2020 kl. 9:00
@Yuo better commit sudoku. I like this mod. It really reminds me of Medieval II. It has its flaw though. People die out too fast since multiple soldiers can gang up on a single target. This is especially problematic for cavalry.
Solon 15. feb. 2020 kl. 19:12
Please update, if necessary... :steamhappy:
Solon 15. feb. 2020 kl. 19:11
Awesome !!!
This needs to be in MK 1212AD

metafa 27. dec. 2019 kl. 17:43
@sinister thanks will try that too. Anyone tried with AE?
Humble Racist 27. dec. 2019 kl. 16:08
@lolaus i have tried it with 1212ad and it works great, though there might be some balancing issues
Ligon Flarius 26. nov. 2019 kl. 18:29
Hello, Me again. I really like the mod and i'd like to know if there's a way a non-modder could help. Rating positive and adding to favorites is all I've done so far. but well, Reinforcing my previous idea (and if it is viable, of course), it would probably be the best animation mod if it had all the features mentioned above, plus a better, bigger variety of finishing/killing animations. Of course, you'd have to borrow that to make it happen. But then again, I'd be the best combination in my opinion.
Iolaus 2. juli 2019 kl. 15:13
Has anyone tested this with the new Medieval 1220 mod ?
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 14. juni 2019 kl. 3:14
Thanks, I'm really glad you love it.
1) I don't have enough skill to create my own animatons of course. If anything, I could borrow some animations from other mods with their creators' approval... I will also try to do something on my own but I doubt it will work.
2) I think the mass system does exist in Attila, but it's less visible. Each unit has its own mass statistic and sometimes in battles you can actually see soldiers being pushed slowly by numericaly superior enemy. The problem is it looks quite ugly (the infamous "sliding" of soldiers) and indeed it is the problem with the engine itself. Making the collision area bigger for each solder could solve this, but on the other hand it f*cks up the formations and AI pathfinding in general.
Ligon Flarius 13. juni 2019 kl. 18:51
Sorry, me again. First, congratulations for the mod. I see the game battles, if you don't use the Realism mode, are much more interesting now. Nobody else had this brilliant Idea.
Now 2 questions:

1st and most important, Could you possibly, if you wanted, insert more kill animations to you mod, since de standard ones are few?

2nd, but less likely; this mod as it is, resembles Medieval II. But the only game with a MASS SYSTEM, in which soldiers with bigger mass push other ones, ONLY exists in rome 1. It's not possible to mimic that in the Attila engine, is it?
nik000 29. maj 2019 kl. 17:06
thank you for this fabulous mod. is this mod compatible with "Realistic Movement Speeds"? thank you
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 3. maj 2019 kl. 9:22
I've mainly removed the matched combat attacks and also decreased the melee attack interval to minimum.
Ligon Flarius 2. maj 2019 kl. 15:59
Did you do anything special to make soldiers stack on an oponent? Or all you did was removecombat match and the game took care of the rest? I activated your mod together with a new battle animations mod and... I could see lots of matched combats plus some solders follow in the duel and trying to kill one of the 2 involved on the duel.
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 2. maj 2019 kl. 13:12
Yep.
Ligon Flarius 1. maj 2019 kl. 19:58
Testing it, I could see the death animations are still on. Only the long, matched combat animations that result in no death, these are out. Is that correct?
SirGreg263 11. mar. 2019 kl. 19:28
I realized after I commented ha. Thanks for the answer.
Jazzu 10. mar. 2019 kl. 17:44
cheers
Casimirus Lyszczynski  [ophavsmand] 10. mar. 2019 kl. 3:34
@greggreg263
Such features are already in-game iirc.
Also, I do not want to mix too much things into one mod because it may cause bigger issues with other mods.
@Jaz
It doesn't affect the battle duration significantly, they may appear just a little bit slower perhaps.
