This should be default, did you reached TripWire to propose them to make it the in the final product? Also crawlers should crawls on walls, but you know alas lazy greedy devs this will never happen...

The cause of the EXP issue was "bCheckingExtraHeadDamage=true" of defaultproperties.
Is this important code?

This is how I wish they were originally. It'd be cool to have flying zeds (I like to have my aim tested and aiming at every zed at head level makes things a little more boring).
I know it'd be annoying for a lot of people. I know a lot of people like to afk kite zeds, but uh... git gud?
I will say flying trappers would be ridiculous, so I could probably sympathize with that.

Yes, but ServerExt is the only time when XP would actually matter. Since the mod isn't white-listed, it doesn't matter in standard matches that the custom zeds don't give XP. I agree that you won't get XP from these custom zeds, regardless of the gamemode or mutators used.

It turns out that you are correct! Although custom zeds may have XP values (as I confirmed for mine), TW have implemented a function (KFGameInfo.ValidateMonsterClassForXP) that prevents AddPlayerXP from being called when killing custom zeds. I assume ServerExt relies on this to add XP for custom perks. If my assumption is correct, no custom zed will give you XP in ServerExt. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about this unless the code for ServerExt is changed to no longer rely on this. Again, this is all just a guess - I haven't crawled through ServerExt code for quite a while.

The mod is not white-listed. Any XP gained during the match will not be saved. TW don't have any staff assigned to white-listing mods so I don't expect it to happen any time soon.

I tested again with DAR.DARGameInfo_Survival (offline, no mutator) mode, but no XP at all:steamsad:

They do have XP values in regular Survival (getall DARPawn_ZedDAR XPValues returns values larger than 0). This is an issue I cannot address within this mod - it must be specific to ServerExt.

They should inherit the XP values from E.D.A.R. Bombers. Perhaps you need to specify the XP values for custom zeds in the ServerExt config file? I'm not familiar with how ServerExt determines XP values.

While it'd probably be too difficult to make players shoot rockets out of the air from weird angles from flying EDARs, it should still be an option for super skilled players. It should stay on all EDARs. Also, just a personal opinion but I find the blue tiny flying EDARs very bizzare and kinda immersion breaking. Nothing major, but in my opinion they are just a tad out of place.

I think a new variant for an EDAR that would bring a ton of extra challenge would be a regular sized EDAR that can fly around and cloak itself like a stalker, but only does high damage melee attacks instead of ranged ones. Just an idea.

Homing rockets that you can shoot out of the air reminds me of the redeemer from UT. Would you want homing rockets on walking or flying EDARs? I had also wanted blasters to have projectiles with more impact. I would say your laser idea would fit better with the trapper as you say. Something like the Hell Razer would be pretty cool.

I like these ideas, so I will keep them in mind. However, for the time being I have other mods I'm working on.

I thought of some cool changes to the rockets that EDARs shoot to make them more dangerous but more fun to fight against as a skilled player. The rockets travel much slower but are able to track players slightly, making them a little harder to dodge. The rockets now have hitboxes allowing skilled players to shoot the rockets out of the air mid-flight.

I've had a lot of fun with this mod, and really like the changes youve made to the EDARs. Could it be possible if you made another EDAR mod that changed the Blasters from shooting their tiny, weak, hard-to-see lasers into shooting a solid laser beam like King Fleshpound?

I think that would be much more interesting to fight against and would make it much more unique and dangerous, much like the Hell Razer from Doom if you've played htat. Maybe it would have to be a trapper replacement since the trapper is already the one that has an arm and animations perfect for shooting out a single beam.

The update is out! Please refer to the change notes and the "What's new" section for details.
The gamemode name in the launch command has changed slightly, so you'll need to update any launch scripts to reflect the change. Sorry, I know it's a pain, but it was done to differentiate the survival and endless gamemode classes.

they should add officially something similar as the bombar to regular gameplay. flying, moving enemies would really change some of the gameplay. looking good, thx for the mod :)

To everyone who has given feedack so far, whether that be on steam or reddit, here's my plans for updating the mod.

I'm expecting TW to alter the behaviour and code of the EDARs significantly in the next update, so I won't be improving AI or flight behaviour until the update is out. I could adjust stats and spawn frequency before then, but the feedback is somewhat divided.

@Soony @Abune I really dislike TW's implementation of EDARs as well, which is why I made this mod. I have significantly lowered health and armour, and only have variants of the bomber (the rocket one) at the moment. If you have tried the mod and still don't like it, that's fine. What would be useful is if you suggest ways to improve them. Since I doubt TW will remove EDARs from the game, I'm trying to offer a better implementation.

@Sir Buttfiend7854 That's a fair criticism. The different textures are there to make it easier to differentiate the various DARs, but yeah I think I went overboard with the frozen texture. I also think gameplay-wise the stinger is the least fitting, and I am considering alternatives. I did want it to be initially rather extreme in terms of speed and size to determine whether an enemy like that would be appropriate. I would agree that the stinger is the least fitting of them.
