Realistically, any size army can move through a forest. Just slowly.

nice

It will not affect campaign. I'm aware the campaigns use the silly impassable trees quite a bit.
Necromorph 26 jun, 2018 @ 22:07
will this affect campaign mode? I remember a few campagins used trees to block players, though it's no big deal if the players can go through the blocks.....:bbtcat:

Looks good, might try this after finishing this multiplayer
Callistonian  [skapare] 12 maj, 2018 @ 3:32
Ya, I know that happens on M2TW. In RTW, artillery can't move through forests but I think that's all the forests do (aside from making it impossible to see anything).
Lieuwe21 12 maj, 2018 @ 3:25
@Callistonian some units (like cav) move a bit slower through forests in total war games.

Good

I don't really remember where I got the idea from. I think in the total war games I've played, forests basically serve the purpose of obstructing your view (giving the AI a huge advantage) but I don't think they affect the cavalry/infantry dynamic. At any rate, I was extremely pleased with how this mod turned out and it was something as simple as just reducing the obstruction radii from 1.0 to 0.4.

What an extraordinary mod, Callistonian! Well done for thinking of it... did you get the idea from the Total War series? Players are really going to have to watch their backs now!
Callistonian  [skapare] 31 mar, 2018 @ 21:41
It doesn't affect the campaign. The campaigns use different proto files and this mod only edits proto2.5.
Rohzdear 31 mar, 2018 @ 19:39
How would this affect the Campaign?

Aren't there parts that are unnaccessible expecifically because of forests?

callistonian u make the best mods of AOM:steamhappy:
Potato_Gunner 31 mar, 2018 @ 2:18
ok thanks, im not a mod maker, dont even know where to start
Callistonian  [skapare] 31 mar, 2018 @ 2:02
Check to make sure you have the files in your mods folder. All this mod does is reduce the obstruction radius for about a dozen tree proto units to 0.4 and remove the <flag>ObscuresUnits<flag>. I don't mind at all if you reproduce these edits in another mod (such as UMC, etc.).
Potato_Gunner 31 mar, 2018 @ 2:00
yeah it was highest priority still didnt work... ill try re-downloading it
Callistonian  [skapare] 31 mar, 2018 @ 1:58
Make sure you have the mod at higher priority than any other data mods. The obstruction radius for trees in this mod is 0.4 (jungle trees are still impassable). This means infantry/cavalry will get through but larger units like myth units won't. I haven't tested every unit in the game of course but I did test mosst infantry, ranged units, and cavalry.
Potato_Gunner 30 mar, 2018 @ 20:18
hey i downlaoded this mod, and it didnt seem to work, i ordered my priest and a few laborers to enter a forest (and yes i even tried microing) and he just wouldnt get past the first line of trees. I was wondering if there was a file i could edit and change the obstruction of the trees myself? or does this obstruction thing only allow soldiers to enter forests?
Potato_Gunner 30 mar, 2018 @ 5:52
yeah this is really creative, i always thought that it was stupid that units could not move through a forest
Callistonian  [skapare] 29 mar, 2018 @ 16:51
Ya, I figured most people would have the reaction of "but muh forest walls!" I think the new combat mechanic of move through and hide in forests is WAY more interesting than making a forest part of your wall.
Kataskopos 29 mar, 2018 @ 10:08
Awesome! although i have been exploiting the inpenetrability of the forest, this will be a thrilling experience!
