Realistic?! What is realistic about this?! If you get punched in the back you would know because you feel pain and that what the hit marks are, where the pain is coming from, removing it feels more like you don't feel pain at all..

The problem is that with good sound setup and situational awareness, hitmarkers are nigh useless anyway, and get in the way more than anything. Lingers for too long, too close to the center of the screen.
