So I've pasted the file doi_bitconnect_stuka.vpk into \custom\, and have unsubscribed to all my sound mods except for a death sound mod (Tom&Jerry), and it still doesn't work. I think I'll try unsubscribing to all the sounds.

sorry, I'm mistaken, the custom folder is inside C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dayofinfamy\doi\custom

I had the same issue as Dan, however just as I was about finished with your suggestion, I couldn't find the /custom folder that you directed me to D:

go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\447820\1308283134, copy the vpk, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dayofinfamy\custom and paste the vpk.
