@generalross814
it's BYOR (bring your own rules) game. for one, two, or three people.
there is no AI, and nothing moves unless you move it. it is assumed
you have your rules dice and ship record cards offline.
Sorry for my stupidity, but how do you actually play the game? Also can it be played against the AI? Thanks.

@Cyrano: ah.. the fighting sail mechanism. gotcha. that would be for the same reason. it was a learning experience, and maybe a few vessels have wonky colliders. i don't have the time to revisit all of these models, but if there are any obvious stinkers, i'll try and fix them. cheers,
@Cyrano: hiya. these were some of the first asset bundles i made, and they have box colliders. big box around the whole model. in later versions, i refined this, to cover only the base, so the hulls wouldnt interfere with rulers, etc. personally, i use the line tool for measuring, and find it more useful than any measuring stick. i guess thats the problem here. cheers for using them.
Cyrano 2019
@Kendo: As you know, I know little of how these models actually work. For whatever reason, these ships -- unlike those in Nile, Copenhagen, or Fighting Sail, seem to have a "bumper" around them that prevent me from laying the measuring mechanism. Any notion what causes this? (And, as always, thanks for your work.)
Gernot 2018
Oh my goodness. Not only do people thank Ken for making these ships, however far they may have existed before in other ways. People thank Ken for being very active in the community and creating a lot of useful things for the players. Look, it's a very manageable and very small scene. I do not think you'll make a name for yourself by exposing Ken to false accusations. Ashes on your head.

@Obibun: "Jealousy is an awful thing." ~ Graham Greene

these remixes were offered to you, freely. but you didn't get back to me. i would have liked us to possibly work together, but it seems you wanted all of the glory for yourself. and now i completely understand the reason why. you have an ego the size of the moon.

for your info... their polycount is 50%-80% less than the .stl original.

it's disingenuous of you to suggest that only godlike you are capable of browsing thingiverse and operating a modelling program. it's not like these are the first ship models i've ever uploaded to the workshop. would it surprise you to know that i was telling the truth, when i said i'd had them on my drive for six months? Because that's what i told you in our conversation. Remember? of course you do. but, go on... play the "injured party" and accuse me of being a thief one more time. it's wearing a little thin, but it's still quite funny.
Obibun 2018
Allow me to illustrate how a responsible adult, and not a credit thief, would have responded to the comments on this workshop item congratulating him profusely because *finally* somebody made age of sail wargame models.

"Oh, well. To be honest a lot of the credit goes to Obibun.tw and his <workshop item>. He spent a ton of time hunting down suitable models on a 3d printing site, converted them, put them together, textured the vast majority of them, and published them. I added a few things here and there and used the source files he linked to in his workshop item, took them and ran with it, but realistically, a lot of the credit goes to him for his hard work doing all of that and publishing <workshop item> originally a few weeks back."

But please, continue to convince yourself that no credit is due to anybody but yourself and some vague "community effort". Good lord.

Geeze. It sure is bizarre how the TTS workshop went four years without any decent age of sail ships for wargaming. Then suddenly, a day after I publish mine after more than 20+ hours of working on them over the course of a week or two, you're able to publish your own item the VERY NEXT DAY with virtually no credit to the actual author.

And NONE whatsoever in this item, where people are congratulating you for the beautiful age of sail models that they've been waiting to have for years.

It's almost as though without the original author's hard work, you would not have been able to do any of this whatsoever. How *kind* and mature of you to pointedly leave him out completely in both your workshop description and comments to your new adoring fans.

Pathetic.
@Obibun: "virtually directly". LOL. you are talking out of your arse. they came from epengr. your ego is collossal. and you really should get over yourself. other people can model and browse thingiverse too, you know? i told you how happy i was to see them here. and how i had baled on the texturing previously. you gave me the kick up the arse to try again. i told you that in a conversation we had. it takes two minutes to convert an .stl into an .obj into an .lwo. accusing me of being a thief and a plagarist is just sour grapes.
Obibun 2018
It shouldn't need to be said, but when 90% of your models and textures are taken virtually directly from another workshop item - failing to disclose or credit that workshop item, even when asked where the models came from, amounts to nothing more than outright plagiarism and pathetic, immature behaviour.
Obibun 2018
It is sad that you're trying to defend outright theft of somebody else's work.. but that's okay.

It's quite clear you are enjoying the ill-gotten fame. None of the comments here are congratulating you on "how good a job you did making a Trafalgar scenario", but rather are all concerned with the fact that there are *finally* age of sail models, very attractive ones, within TTS.

Despite this not having anything to do with you or your work, you seem more than happy to accept accolades for it rather than attributing credit to the actual author.

Further, when *directly* asked if the models were yours, your response was "oh some 3d printing files and the community coming together" line -- wrong. It was some raw .stl files from a website that I found, downloaded, utlized, converted, edited, cut up, reconstructed, scaled, UV mapped, and textured - spending upwards of 20-25 hours of my time to do so.

Pathetic.
@Obibun: scurrilous, dude. scurrilous.

are these models yours? where is your textured HMS Victory? HMS Temaraire? or Royal Sovereign? Or the Santisima Trinidad? I don't see any of your models with bases, either. See the battle of Copenhagen i did... Where are your blockships? And the textured sloop, Brigs and Bomb boats? the only sad thing around here is you and your jealousy mate. do you honestly think you are the first person to have ever browsed thingiverse? telling all these lies to people because your feels are hurt. you should be ashamed of yourself. i used "lightwave", "photoshop" and a program called "uvmapper". it's not rocket science.

i acknowledged your texturing contribution in previous mods. and in personal conversations we have had. i have however, moved on from there. sorry about your ego. but i am not going to sit back while you tell outright lies to people.

@Obibun:

>>Original author here.

untrue.

>>These models are actually wholly my own work.

untrue.

epengr@thingiverse is the original author.

>> They were painstakingly converted, clipped apart and reconstructed, scaled, and UV mapped in Blender from some old raw 3d printing files I located on Thingiverse.

That makes them "not yours". And I have done the same. As you know.

>> I'm reporting this mod because the author has failed to credit me in the slightest

LOL.

>> even when asked directly where the models came from

untrue.

>>despite the fact they are almost completely and wholly my own authorship and the work of over a week and 20+ hours.

so now they are "almost completely" yours.
are they yours? or aren't they?

>> I find it entirely disrespectful and bordering on outright plagiarism.

i offered you the remixed parts. new ships. bases. etc. you did not want to know.
now here you are throwing a girly strop.

Obibun.. you are being ridiculous.

Obibun 2018
Hi guys,

Original author here. These models are actually wholly my own work. They were painstakingly converted, clipped apart and reconstructed, scaled, and UV mapped in Blender from some old raw 3d printing files I located on Thingiverse.

After this, the UV maps were exported and very laboriously hand textured from scratch in Adobe Photoshop.

It's still a work in progress, but all in all the project has taken me well over 25 hours and a lot of blood, sweat and tears.

I invite you to my original workshop mod, where you'll find all of this in more in raw and easily modifiable format.

https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1286814314

I'm reporting this mod because the author has failed to credit me in the slightest, even when asked directly where the models came from, despite the fact they are almost completely and wholly my own authorship and the work of over a week and 20+ hours.

I find it entirely disrespectful and bordering on outright plagiarism.

Also I second Elder_Salt's lauding of TTS as a congressional library of game history and his profound disappoint at the uses to which it generally gets put.
Not quite sure where to say this but wow. Keep up the impressive work. You've got a fan in me.
The availability of models in the vastly expensive hobby of miniature gaming has opened up some massive floodgates of repressed nostalgia for me, for sure. In general, TTS as the new congressional library of game history is one of the best things to happen in the world. The fact that all anybody plays is Cards Against Humanity and Secret Hitler is unfortunately a sign of the end of civilization, but I digress.
Gernot 2018
Hey K., i translated your last sentence (Russian). lol
You are the best!

@Cera Ralaz:
@Elder_Salt: cheers. there are some great things in the TTS workshop, and i've enjoyed hours of other people's hard work and dedication myself. it seemed only fair to put something substantial back in. i know it won't appeal to everyone, but some folk spend years saving up for the ships to refight this battle. and here it is, for free. take it away and play. that's what really rocks. so, thanks to the TTS devs. :)
Oh my god. Ships, we're finally getting proper ships. These are great, thank you and alll those who fiddled with the models before you. This is a great mod.

@Gernot: i knew a good pub called "the Nelsons arms". which was kindof funny (seeing as he only had the one).
Gernot 2018
Last summer i had Nelson in my arms. It was a beautiful life size doll in a museum.
Awesome!!! Thanks a lot for that K.!

Who can say no to little tiny boats!
@Yowi: thanks, you made me laugh. thankfully, we live in happier times now.

@cody_conroy: i remixed and based them, but i did not create them. i think, it would be fair to say they are a community effort. a person called 'epengr' (@ thingiverse) first released them into the world, and people have been improving them since.
F**k Nelson!!! I'm Spanish!!! :P

Nice work!!!
Do you make the models yourself
@Cera Ralaz: hi there. this is a wargame, representing Nelson's last battle. all that is needed is some dice, and your favourite ruleset.
Cera Ralaz 2018
Is this related to some warship strategy game or it is just an installation?
