Check out this video's description, the alternate solution is valid, not invalid for regular test chambers of Portal 1. Not valid is only for the advanced chambers.

NOOO! I DO NOT LIKE NO ALTERNATE SOLUTIONS IN REGULAR CHAMBERS IN PORTAL 1, SO I HAVE TO USE CHEATS IN THIS CHAMBER AS WELL, The Regular Chambers in Portal 1 uses the alternate solutions to exit, even to get the radio. no alternate solutions means: "NO MORE PLAYING PORTAL 1!" I do not like that.
