Ok

@Kygaming: no, it can't possibly be "real-life" scaled. This map is pushing the size limits of the game engine, and it's compressed a bit more than 100:1 (in-game 48km covering a little over 5000km real distance).

Hmm, you'd need to increase the land value enough to trigger more passengers willing to travel the longer distances. Though passenger then might only take one trip to/from the longest destinations, and then change destinations.

No, it's still a problem as far as I know. You won't be able to send cargo from Vancouver to Halifax. Not even passengers with a Concorde, I just tried: 4min frequency, and the Lines panel showed a "Rate" of 82, but not a single passenger took the plane. Shorter journeys would obviously work fine. Still, it would be nice if UG fixed this issue.

Did they fix how very long rail routes work? There were some issues with non-square maps allowing routes that were too long, so no passengers or cargo would use them!

And don't forget http://www.openrailwaymap.org/ as a more interactive map of rail lines worldwide. Most useful for current active track, but also shows abandoned track as well.

Here's another Canadian Pacific map (from 1949) that covers about the same region as this Transport Fever map:
