mod corruption, steam problem, check google for guide on how to clear mod cache

I love this mod, but I'm still having trouble with it causing loading errors.

MOD_CRITICAL_ERROR: Less Drill Dust and Stone Particles [UPDATED], in file: Unknown
MOD PARTIALLY SKIPPED, LOADED ONLY 1/6 PHASES, Following Error occured:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Sandbox.Game
at Sandbox.Definitions.MyDefinitionManager.LoadDefinitions(List`1 contexts, List`1 definitionSets, Boolean failOnDebug, Boolean isPreload)

If I load it as the only plugin, I get this error. If I run without plugins and load this as the only mod, I get this error. My entire SE was reloaded yesterday and I just subscribed to the mod today. (because I always used it as a plugin) Also I searched for the appworkshop_244850.acf file as you recommended elsewhere but it was not found in any SE folders.

Anything else I can try?

I can see! I can see! (What I'm attempting to drill) =)

omg this is my new favorite mod!! I can finally see wtf I'm doiiiing! <3 Many Thanks!

This is the kinda thing that amazes me with how impactful yet simple this QOL change can be. Tool and machine sound audio and particle effect dampers should be standard and adjustable in-game settings
WhaleShark 21. aug. 2021 kl. 12:48
I change to first person in my driller to see the ore im working at and DUST EVERYWHERE. WHY ISNT THIS IN THE BASE GAME?
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 1. jan. 2021 kl. 16:23
yeah it should still work... the critical error from the other user, he probably neds to delete steam's mod cache n force a redownload
GHOST_ECHO 31. dec. 2020 kl. 19:45
does this still work? im getting annoyed by the particle effects, and this mod worked wonders before
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 24. mar. 2019 kl. 10:17
i'll check it :)
Best Essnato 24. mar. 2019 kl. 4:54
When I start the game with it it says critical error and doesn't work
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 23. mar. 2019 kl. 12:45
i have, it should work
Best Essnato 23. mar. 2019 kl. 11:00
Please update this mod as I literally can not play without it
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 14. jan. 2019 kl. 7:50
yeah sounds more like it, your larger drill radius :)
Aspect of Hunger 14. jan. 2019 kl. 7:29
ah ok and the loose ore is in large groups due to having a hand drill with increased size of drilling. they spawn in in amounts of 405 per rock and drilling drops about 10-30 rocks
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 13. jan. 2019 kl. 20:24
no that is controlled by the MinedOreRatio in the voxel****.sbc
as it is now in vanilla, you are getting far more ore than you should be based on the size of the dent you make in the voxels when mining.
a few 'floating objects' shouldnt be lagging your game at all, unless you are playing on a very low spec PC, there may be other things lagging your game too.
Aspect of Hunger 13. jan. 2019 kl. 9:09
would this mod affect with the ore and stone that dropped from mining with the hand drill? its dropping in groups of 405 units and i cant figure out where to look to make it so that it groups up in higher amounts. im having the issue of so much ore is dropping while mining from loose ore that its lagging my game out
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 20. dec. 2018 kl. 11:21
yeah, i still see the occasional black hexagon, which is apparently GPU Particle effect related...
WolfOfLight 20. dec. 2018 kl. 9:07
amusingly, dispite having a new comp that can handle SE fine, i still choke on particles a bit, they should really look into optimiseing them
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 20. dec. 2018 kl. 1:18
Finally updated, sorry took so long, just altering values is very hard to keep focussed and needed a good day to do it on, especially considering the increased complexity and quantity of particle effect definitions since 01.186 :)
Quartofel 19. dec. 2017 kl. 7:24
Be blessed.
WolfOfLight 7. nov. 2017 kl. 9:23
never such thing as "good enough" we must always go further!
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 7. nov. 2017 kl. 8:58
its on my to do list, i thought you had a good enuff improvement?
WolfOfLight 7. nov. 2017 kl. 8:56
would really rather have a mod that disables the particles completely. but nooo, nobody wants to make a mod that would do that. cause "OOO fancy particles!" fk my fps
Azirahael 23. okt. 2017 kl. 17:48
if you want to, i'll happily give it a try. No drama if it's a pain though.
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 23. okt. 2017 kl. 15:28
i did a test mod with them set to minimum, the one particle per second lasts more than a second, best i can do is upload one to disable the offending particle effects
Azirahael 23. okt. 2017 kl. 15:17
Ah. So the mod's primary purpose is to aid framerate, rather than clarity?

ok. No problem.
Sadly, i got lucky with my vid card, and never get FPS drops from particles. AMD FTW.

Do you know if there's another mod with more clarity?
I like dust for drilling, but i have to keep stopping to see what it is that i'm actually drilling :(
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 23. okt. 2017 kl. 6:04
if its a 'drill' block in the game then it will use the same particles unless a new particle comes with the mod, but i checked it myself i couldnt really notice a visual difference, but Nyx tested it and it helped his FPS a lot
Azirahael 22. okt. 2017 kl. 16:26
Sure. That makes sense. But what i am saying is that if you remove 90% of particles, you should see something.

If not, then maybe your mod does not affect modded drills?

Even if it doesn't clean up everything, i would expect some improvement.
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 22. okt. 2017 kl. 15:00
that explaines it, these make bigger voxel deformations.... which equals more particles
Azirahael 22. okt. 2017 kl. 13:43
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 22. okt. 2017 kl. 7:05
it could also be the quantity of drills you are using
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 22. okt. 2017 kl. 7:01
which drill mod you using?
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 22. okt. 2017 kl. 6:59
might be, try the vanilla drills
Azirahael 21. okt. 2017 kl. 19:56
Makes no difference to me.
Screen goes black as soon as i start drilling.
As usual.

Would it matter if i were using custom (mod) drills?
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 16. okt. 2017 kl. 0:40
i will be uploading one that lowers all particles probably today :)
delleds 15. okt. 2017 kl. 21:30
Can you make this for grinding? It's hell
Nikolas March  [ophavsmand] 15. okt. 2017 kl. 11:26
:)
WolfOfLight 15. okt. 2017 kl. 10:37
yeeeeeeeeees thank you!
