To your last comment: Melee fighting in vanilla works only with a lot of first aids kits etc.
Thanks for the comment. You are right - melee fighting feels very rough (because the vanilla defense ratings have only a weak impact and the survivors heal very slow).
This is the reason why I balanced only ranged weapons until now - I only fought with ranged weapons yet.
So a melee balancing mod would make sense - perhaps not to deal the most damage, but to do something like tanking. I will make a plan for this and provide an melee weapon mod by the end of next week (about knifes, clubs, hammers, etc.) - so stay tuned.
If I may offer a idea or two, randomly wondering if it'd make sense for melee weapons to offer a small-ish boost to evasion - more incentivising for survivors to go into melee? Also if the shields, even the wooden one, offered a slight-ish armour boost, would be logical too given their function. Quite a few things that can be changed. XD
