Hello, everyone. Another mod has been somewhat finished, and this one is a little bit different.

Todays mod is a series of thrusters, one designed by Venom, and the rest designed by me based off the first. Each thruster is designed to work like ion thrusters, but when exposed to the air, (the atmosphere of a planet, not an oxygenated room) it boosts its output to create a powerful thrust wave.

The techs down in the lab have decided on calling these the 'Ation Thrusters', and have also kindly provided a few larger versions for those who have varying builds that need extra thrust. They also have provided a prototype thruster, the Alpha Thruster, though that design may not last long.

The Ation Thruster has two features that make it unique. The thruster flame changes color dependent on the amount of thrust applied, and the thrusters power gets a boost when it isn't burning pure, unfiltered O2, such as that found in an atmosphere.

All of these are for small ships, though large ship versions have been planned.

Notes:
- Type-B, Type-C, and Type-D Thrusters are still being experimented on atm. Their statistics will most likely change.
- The game appears to hate having multiple thruster emitters. While the flame is shown on a number of them, it doesn't show more then one 'glare' sprite.

Thank you. You answered my question. I was going to try these with some maneuvering thrusters on a few of my smaller ships and miners. I think they may work great. But, sometimes I have to hightail it out of there and i need to be able to stop because my speed is set to 1000.

The settings are player modifiable from the control panel, but beyond that, no.
As for breaking thrust, I set the dampening system to use the same amount of force as the normal thruster, so if you can slow down in time, so can it. I kept it to a multiplier of 1 for realism. (Yes, that's how the dampening system works. The thrusters have their own multiplier value for it, but if you try to slow it down yourself, it doesn't use it. Only if you use the dampeners, unless Keen changed it since I learned it the hard way...)

What is the dampening thrust on these?? I don't want to load up on them and end up in an asteroid!! It would be funny though. lol Can the settings be player modified?

Yes. They work better in atmo, but they still have plenty of power in space. Try them out and see.

no textures on the models when placing them, just solid colors, depending on your color palette
