Introduction
This guide was made specifically to help you improve your spore creations! I gathered all the data i could find on all the ingame shortcuts, including the basic hotkeys. I'm fairly confident I have discovered everything- but if you find something's missing and have proof please let me know!!
Editor Shortcuts and Hotkeys
  • Hold A- Disable symmetry on part upon left click / selection
  • MMW- Scale spine/part
  • CTRL-N- Start new
  • CTRL-Y- Redo
  • Ctrl-Z- Undo
  • TAB- Advanced rotation
  • Arrow Keys- Adjust part scale
  • Delete, Backspace- Delete part
  • Hold CTRL+LMB- Break apart limbs
  • Hold CTRL+LMB- Move selected part vertically (Building Editor Only)
  • Alt+LMB- Clone Part
  • Hold Shift+LMB Move- Moves vehicle parts in unison (Vehicle Editor Only)
  • Alt+LMB- Over a region of a part eyedroppers only the assigned colors from the model, leaving you with the texture you had selected. Useful for matching colors across textures. (Building & Vehicle Editors Only)
  • Hold Shift+LMB on a part- Move selected part horizontally (Building Editor Only)
  • Shift+LMB- Paint all regions (Paint mode)
  • Ctrl+LMB- Paint like blocks using current region (Paint mode)
  • Shift+LMB- Assigns the selected texture from the palette to the entire part you are clicking on, instead of one face at a time. Useful for quickly painting a multi face part. (Paint mode of Building & Vehicle Editors Only)
  • Shift+Ctrl+LMB- Applies the selected texture from the palette to all parts of the same type, i.e. paint all window frames red (Paint mode of Building & Vehicle Editors Only)

  • W, 8- Move Forward
  • A, 4- Move Left
  • S, 2- Move Back
  • D, 6- Move Right
  • B- Open/Close Sporepedia
  • H, /, ?- Open/Close Sporeguide
  • L- Open/Close Mission Log
  • T- Open/Close Timeline
  • P or ~ - Pause Game
  • V- Take Movie
  • C- Take Picture
  • CTRL-H- Hide UI
  • CTRL-S- Save Game or Asset
  • Alt-F4- Quit
  • <, >- Move Camera Left and Right
  • + Key- Zoom Camera In
  • - Key- Zoom Camera Out
  • Page Up- Pitch Camera Up
  • Page Down- Pitch Camera Down
  • MMW- Zoom Camera
  • Hold MMB+Move- Pitch and Rotate camera
  • ESC (If Nothing Is Selected)- Open/Close Options Menu
  • ESC (If Rigblock/Unit/Tool/Target Is Selected)- De-Select Selected
  • ESC- Also used to close open dialog/tutorial boxes, skip cinematics, or exit planners
  • ENTER- Mapped to Accept (Green Checkmark)
Cell Stage Hotkeys
  • Arrow Keys- Move Avatar
  • BackSpace- Mating Call
  • Hold RMB+Move, Hold LMB+RMB+Move- Drive Cell
  • LMB Click- Go Here/Action
Creature Stage Hotkeys
  • 1,2,3,and 4 Keys- Verb Tray Hotkey
  • Arrow Keys- Move Avatar
  • E- Strafe Right
  • Q- Strafe Left
  • F- Target Nearest Opponent
  • K- Drop Object In Hand
  • R- Toggle Autorun
  • Z- Activate Sneak Ability

  • Spacebar- Jump, Push again after jumping to flap wings

ctrl doesn't work at all when trying to snap a arm or leg, what do i do??

in any editor with symmetry by default you can hold A while picking a piece up to break the symmetry.

have fun making lopsided monsters and craft!

Here are a few other hotkeys found in the space stage game. Some of them are replacement of keys listed in the main guide, others are fresh new ones (oddly enough, they have not been seen in any other places).

NumPad 2,4,6,8 - These are equivalent to WSAD. Noted in the General Hotkeys part, but missing the info that they are on the NumPad.
NumPad 3,9 - Equivalent to PageDown and PageUp.

Home, End - These are shortcuts to do power jump (keep zooming out the view as planetary -> solar -> galactic and vice versa). Pressing Ctrl and +/- do the same, as well as clicking the +/- button at the bottom left HUD.
[, ] (Square Brackets) - When you have more than 9 tools in the same row, a small triangle button will appear beside the tool buttons to allow you to cycle through them. These two shortcuts do the same.
0 - This is equivalent to Select or Use the next unrevealed tool in the case above, without the need of cycling them out first.

I am in the adventure creator and don't remember how I make another path point when setting an actor's movement to patrol. I knew it before but I'm stumped now. any clue what it is?

@ImmersionMan, I think it has to do with your system or your keyboard, not the game.

I know this is an old post so no one will see this, but I have been trying to get objects to move up and down in my adventure creator and they will not move. I cannot get them to move up and down. I am holding Ctrl with all might and it is not working. I've tried both ctrl's on my keyboard, neither work. Can anyone help?

how do you remove limb segments? I tried holding CTRL and LMB but it didn't do anything

handy trick i found today as well, once you are at the point of advancing stage you can press "T" to bring up the evolution path without having to evolve so you can check to make sure you didnt eat one too many nests
