You spawn down somewhere in the map after you should search this location 13 N, 1839 E. called the trailer park where we gonna start.

Pros

The trailer park is the best location in my opinion there are a lot of good thing such as:

There is a lake next to the park which means infinite water resource
It's located in a burnt down forest lots of trees and burning wood on the ground what you can destroy to gain coal
Decent amount of animals (rabbits, deers, pigs etc)
Lootable burt down houses, cars, trash
It's next to a normal forest where you can find a lot of clay
Snow biome is close 1-2 hours sprinting (in game hour)
Various loot in the trailers
One of the trailers has an open door that trailer is made of super strong steel (12000 hitpoints)
Next to the radioactive boarder
Nearby there is a military holdout
Some of the trailers have fertilized ground
Next to a supermarket (lots of food and misc vendingmachines)

Cons

Away from the trader
Away from other villages, loot places

In a nutshell

Lots of resources, animals
High hitpoints holdouts, trailers
Away from other explorable/lootable places

I personally prefer the watch tower near the female trader that is just outside of the wasteland witch has a group of buildings, how to find, start at the front of trader and head NW behind the trader until you find a lake head up the road to the watch tower and clear the 5 to 7 zombies inside, it has a military truck inside witch can be used to store or dismantle for parts, the entrance is a 3 x 2 iron double door and its surrounded by fencing witch can ether upgraded or used as an outline for building blocks dig 2 x block 4 blocks out around the entire place and places traps 2 out and 1 up witch then seems to make the zombies think they can climb it witch then makes them kill themselves on each 3 stack. this defense held up against 3 horde nights. Also the top floor has lots off ammo and food.

1080 south 1300 east there is a hotel in the desart biom, 3 safes for me on the top floor & river across the road. And right across that river is a trader. Don't knock down the front doors though, instead, go around back & stach frames until you reach a balcony.

Any place that is close to a trader or two and close to a big city is good. Water is meaningless with a shovel and snow.
Sorry Nerevar but hiding in a house on the lake is exploiting to me. You need to confront and defeat the zombie horde if you want to consider it a victory.

you know what is the best for real, little house in a middle of a lake, never had to fight a single zombie or fortify my house in 30 days lol

THE BEST PLACE IS ONE OF THE BIG BUILDINGS IN CENTRAL CITY !!!!!!! (coordinates zero zero zero zero...)
Lot of stores + lot of build materials around + you can stay horde night in one of tens of other buildings...

The trailer park is very cool. They are made of steel , so once you block the doors off they make REALLY good foundations for a high level fortress :)
